Hey guys, looking for some ideas here. I have a character that I want to "eat a heart" something really bloody that is pretty grotesque to look at. My idea was a blood orange coated with edible stage blood. Thoughts? Thanks!!

Do you mean you want to really eat it, or is it just for looking at? If a prop is going to hold it, I'd probably make a shape out of tinfoil and cover it with paper mache, then paint it. You could drizzle on thick drapes of hot glue to mimic veins and give it more definition.

But if a real person is going to eat something that you want to look like a bloody heart, you could also try pieces of barbequed chicken, painted a bit with dark BBQ sauce & ketchup. Depending on the lighting, this could likely pass for a heart.

For all intents and purposes, it should be ok to consume entirely. I was thinking about doing an orange i like the taste of them. I found a recipe for Gene Simmons' blood he uses on stage. I might try that as well. I do like the chicken idea. I know the Walking Dead uses pork.

Depends on how long it needs to last. I have a silicone mold for a heart I bought off Amazon. In the brain, last year, I did a cheesecake filling with cherry filling. I've seen people do red velvet cake as well.
