I orderd a zombie lurker from them august 2006. They billed my creditcard the next day. after halloween I asked for a refund an was told they only gave store credits. So I waited figureing I'd receive it this year.. Well as august went by I started emailing them again an got no response. last week I added
a couple item to my shopping cart trying to use the money they had charged my CC with no luck.. 2 days later the scumbag owner emailed me asking me if I still wanted the zombie lurker and if I want the 2 items in my shopping cart . I said yes an he asked for my CC number an i told hime I was already charged for the zombielurker and I wasn't going to give him my number. He replied they had no record of me being charged so I dug out my CC statement an ask for a working fax number so I can fax it to him... He gave a philadelphia number while spookyplanet is located in MA. Once i told him I wouldn't fax to that number an told him I have all emials from the beginning of this transactiion. He stoped repling again... 15 months an still no Zombie Lurker at 2 grand a pop I hope no one else gets taken in by Erik Carlson the owner of SpookyPlanted!!!

TWO GRAND?????? Whoa! I am really really sorry to hear that.

For two grand I think I'd drive up there and beat the crap out of him!
Report him to the Better Business Bureau. Believe it or not, it works.
I emailed Spooky Planet with an inquiry about a product. I metioned that there are some dissatisfied customers out there who have been waiting for many months for delivery, and what's the possibility of this happening to me. Erik replied:

"We have been in business for over ten years. Legal action has been made on many individuals whom are harboring these statements. Many are untrue, some are true - however these people refuse to acknowledge that we have attempted in many ways to resolve these issues. This includes sending refunds, credit and other products in exchange.

As you may or may not know, sometime we rely on third parties whom make the products. When these companies fail to produce product, we are left high and dry. Companies such as Scarefactory are one of these companies who did not deliver to any retailer this year including one of the nations biggest distributors, Morris Costumes."

Sounds like a "poor me" attitude. And taking legal action against a customer with legitimate complaint? Seems odd...

I never heard of these guys. I just checked out the site, and it has some cool stuff. But the prices seem way high. Check out http://www.hauntedprops.com for more reasonable prices and decent service.

Thanks, If I ever run into him at a convention I'll do just that :)

After seeing this I did a search of SpookyPlanet on BBB.org an guess what he dont respond to them either. They have had six complaints against them

Add me to that list of people taking Legal Action . I am mailing out registered letters to the Mass. AGO, Philadelphia's AGO , Mass. BBB, my CreditCard Company and to spookyplanet..

I will check these folks out if and when I buy another one.
Thanks for the info.
You might want to go with legal action. Just make sure to get copies of receipts and the credit card statement if you have it. You wont be able to dispute the charge with your credit card because it has been longer than 6 months but you might be able to use the statement to show where you paid him.
Just adding my 2 cents. SpookyPlanet aka. Erik Carlson took $500.00 from me and never delivered and disappeared. I have met others who have lost thousands. He is an absolute criminal. He takes money with no intention of filling orders
He changes his cell phone number every few weeks. I have complained to the BBB, it does no good. I have reported him to the FBI and to officials in his home state. Apparently you can steal money from people over the internet and no one gives a crap. I have been in contact with at least 2 other people who have tried to get something done about this piece of dirt.

He pretends to be a huge company but is really a little loser running his business out of an apartment.

So Erik, please take legal action against me for tarnishing your name as well as spooky planet. I'll show up with a whole bunch of people who you have stolen from. This guy is the worst there is.

This sucks!

It's bad business practices like this Spooky Planet that make people fearful of making online purchases ... period!

And there is a lot of decent, good halloween companies out there online that sell excellent, unique items and this kind of stuff makes me them bad as well.
I see that his web site is back up. I hope the Feds catch this guy soon.
It is amazing to me that he is not only walking around, but still in business. He manufactures nothing, he simply "sells" products from various companies. I am equally angry and perplexed that these companies continue to allow him to advertise their merchandise for sale. Every order he takes money for, and does not deliver, is money right out of these vendors pockets. That is a sale they would have made. He is stealing from them too. He profits from all their work and rips off their customers. Yet they allow it to continue.

As for these "franchises" for sale. He tried selling his website last year for huge money. Now it appears he is trying to make it look like he has brick and mortar stores. I would bet my haunt that picture is a Spirit or Halloween express. Or maybe just a total fake. How lame is it that the sign does not appear in the picture but he has a really lame graphic of a sign.

FWIW, I reported this guy to Paypal and the transaction verification service that he uses. Paypal is doing their due diligence and investigating him. The verification service claims that they don't bother to check to see if a business is legit or not; as long as you pay the fees on time they don't care what you do with your website. Maybe Paypal will shut him down, or at least make it more difficult to do wire transfers. I hate jerks like this guy and hate is a word I don't use very often.
I have reported him to the BBB, the FBI internet fraud department and the NH state attourney General's office. I don't think I was the first to report him at any of those places.
It's very frustrating to me to see him still in business. Someone successfully sued him civil in court last year, but I am not aware how he has eluded prosecution.

Yikes. I had a really bad experience a few years ago with another online vendor *coughHalloweenTrickerycough*so I can relate to just how frustrating a situation like this is.

I get regular emails from this Eric creep asking if I want to invest in a franchise or a haunted house for the bargain basement price of 35 grand. It gives his New Hampshire address so if you would like it let me know......

I'd post it but he might sue me. ;)
3SpookyChicks...I had a similar experience with *coughhalloweentrickerycough*. They got me for several hundred bucks. Reported them to the BBB, internet fraud etc etc. I don't know how people live with themselves when they take hard earned $$ and never deliver or intend ot deliver a product. Disgusting.
Try a chargeback. If you paid with your cc and did not receive the product you purchased you should be protected by filing a dispute. You should call your cc company immediately i think you have 18 months to do this, but your cc company could tell you for certain.
