That is rather unfortunate. There's nothing particularly wrong with that type of popup. I have one in a skeleton version and they have zombie popups like that too. In fact the one I have comes with a remote control as well to set it off and it was fun a couple years ago doing that. You can really time the scare well. But you have to really secure the base of the prop to help it last. I do that with all my tekky props anyway- it helps stablize them and that helps them last and not break. But, I was hoping the clown would be another version of the popup zombie mechanism- a much better startle and you could really get creative with him popping up out of a jack-in-the-box, or a large toy block, or even a barrel. But this one needs a bit of room when it lays flat so the best you could do is maybe put him behind a short wall. The sound track isn't too bad, but it doesn't look like his eyes light up which depending on your tastes, could be a good thing or a bad thing.
