Went out TOT'ing with the boys' tonight and had a couple of things really rub me raw...

Neighborhood was absolutely packed with kids, and even with parents, you know how kids are. Had a few younger drivers, screaming through the neighborhood not even bothering to slow down! I was livid over that.

Houses that had Halloween decorations up, and lights on...but no answer to the door... not that big of a deal.

and my biggest pet peeve, even though I know some people don't have a problem with it, but kids, and I'm talking early teens maybe say 11-14 or so, maybe a little older, TOT'ing in their regular clothes...not even attempting a costume of any type. That to me is aggravating as all hell. It takes away from the spirit of Halloween.

I also saw a couple of adults with them, also TOT'ing...but the house they were up at told them "NO" this is for kids only... I applaud them for standing up and not allowing them the tricks!!

Just a little bothersome to me...

Anyone else have pet peeves and Halloween aggravation?

I had a few disappointments this year.

I had 2 people trip because the decided to go off of the lit marked path. The crossed ways with the stakes and ropes holding up an inflatable.

Another young kid, maybe 6 yo, came by, no costume, fine, he was a neighbors grandson I believe. He came back a second time in a group of costumed kids and I accidentally gave him another bag. Now a third time he comes to walk through and I watch him go up to the candy bucket and take a bag. I said to him to please not come back, he had no costume and already got 3 bags of candy. Later I catch him trying to sneak through the bushes! I tell him not to go through there so he does not trip on my extension cords. A foruth time he comes up with a friend that had not been to my house before. And hand the one kid candy and the other kid says, what about me? I said 'You came by 3 times and took candy, I cant give you anymore because it is not fair to the other kids.' Then looking at the display with his friend he starts talking about me yelling at him. The nerve!

Gosh, that was some rant.

My big disappointment was a group of probably 20 somethings that were escorting some small children that stole a presidential yard sign out of a neighbor's yard.

I was so shocked that I didn't say anything. (and a bit of chicken too:( )

I don't care what political views you have - but stealing a sign just because you don't agree with it IN FRONT OF YOUR CHILDREN??? Asses.

We had a teenager that kept speeding through our subdivision in a mustang. They'd leave and 20 mins they'd be back zooming through with kids in the streets.. I had enough, by the 4th time they stopped 5 houses down... I had my eye on them... The guy squeals tires and heads down the street toward my house at full speed... I pulled my patrol car in front of him and lit him up... Lets just say it was Trick or Ticket for him!

LOL. I hope you taught the PUNK a lesson, and gave him a real "treat"...a hefty ticket!! That'll teach 'em...kids nowadays...some nerve...and as for the so-called football "costumes"...um....no....can you say "LAME"?...same goes for any kind of sports outfit...especially if, say 6 or 8 come at the same time....looks like a "team" to me....and the "No costume" rule is in effect w/ me too...they get raisins, or a pencil.

The kid who, when I presented a small plate of candy for him to choose, scraped the whole thing into his bag. (I know, I know...should have seen that one coming. But the presentation seemed the right thing for a vampire to do. And all the other kids were polite about taking one or two pieces.)

I went down to Mission Bay to go to Belmont Park (it was closed!) and me and my friend Ruben kept getting harrassed by these guys. I was dressed as an evil clown, Ruben was dressed as a werewolf mad scientist. The guys kept asking for my gloves and yelling things out at us, we were so afraid we were going to get jumped because the guys were obviously on something, that was just left and went back home.

Our big disappointment was the streets were empty by eight and my six year old son was still wanting to hit more houses but it was like a ghost town. Also went to the local mall for malloween and lots of stores were out of candy and some didn't participate. Oh and yeah no thanks on the stickers, the kids want CANDY!

My disappointment this year was the NONE of the neighbors participated. Not a single house on my area had their light on to give out candy. While my house is a "destination" location, it meant that the kids had to walk a fairly considerable distance (8 suburban houses in one direction, more than that in another) to get to my place without any candy in between. The number of TOTers were down, considerably, due to the neighbors who had no community or holiday spirit.

Those TOTers who did show up, and especially their parents, heaped on the compliments over the display. One young lady, perhaps 6 years old, wanted to stay to hear the pirate chorus (see http://www.halloweenforum.com/halloween-props/74256-young-pirate-chorus-2008-a.html ) sing all of the 11 songs (30+ minutes), but her parents made her move along after only 3 because they thought she was blocking the view for others (she wasn't).

Overall, it was a good night, but I have soooooo much leftover candy. I had assumed, because it was a Friday, that I'd get more kids coming than last year and doubled the amount of candy I purchased.

Seriously though, Isabella and I got to Belmont Park and not olnly was it closed we were bugged by these Creepos with Clown Paint! >=O THose A-Holes Were like, "Hey can we have this and that from your costumes!" all laughing and stuff and all we were doing was looking for a bathroom which we found and then decided since Isabella had a huge mask on and jacket she would come in with me since i didnt want to leave her alone with those weirdies outside so as soon as we got in i noticed a back entrance and i told her screw this lets just leave i dont trust those idiots. and we started walking as fast as we could as just as we got into the parking lot we could here those freaks laughin and yelling stuff in the bathroom just as we escaped. We were so lucky that there even was a freakin back door! <=( I've been jumped before and its not pretty let alone fun! and i would hate myself for eternity if something like that ever happend to Belle and i wasnt able to save her! <=O

My main pet peeve is kids that don't even know or have the sense to say Trick or Treat! They just kind of shove their bags at you and expect you to fill it. If the kids were old enough, I made sure they said it first, by either saying "Yeeees?" or "Whadda you saaaaay?" I felt like such an old lady.

That's great.

My neighbor is a cop, but she is a community advisor. Had one guy who drives a jeep who speeds down our street. Mind you I live in a culdesac. Wish you were here to nail him.

What gets me is the guy you lit up doesn't know your a cop !! What a freekin idiot. I mean does he not know what a cop car looks like? Well he sure does now. Hope you wrote him up for exhibition of speed. Thats a big one here in California.

Everyone in our area goes to the subdivision down the road.... trucks and other 4WD type vehicles pull trailers full of kids. The sub. was packed, houses were decked out, some even had mini-haunts set up. Only prob. was: a lot of people come on their golf carts and 4 -wheelers and speed up and down the streets. Well, a 9 year old got hit by some idiot on a golf cart, and they took him out of the sub. by ambulance, and then air-lifted him to the All Children's Hospital in Tampa. I wasn't able to find out his condition.
