How do I plan to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Interminable House Move? By holding a 2 1/2 day blowout living estate sale including almost all of my Halloween props, costumes, masks, blow molds, and accessories! There is almost no storage space at the new place and if I'm to avoid being turned into an unusually realistic corpse prop after being crushed by falling boxes, most of it's gotta go. Plus, there will be an extensive array of household objects and even taxidermy items that were bought with an eye toward being used as, or a base for, Halloween props and goodies.

I'm feverishly scrambling to gather enough people to help run the sale, and all of them will be bringing who-knows-what to sell as well. Not even remotely prepared to provide a list. I'm trying to avoid selling online (sorry folks, just no time) although I may do so for those interested in purchasing in bulk.

More details as the date approaches.

With my interest in all the weird stuff, one would think I'd have done at least a sideshow by now. Alas, clowns scare me so any clown, carnival, funhous-y type stuff would be minimal if any. Sorry.

No Headless Horseman. Probably some skulls, based on what I can bear to part with.

Address will be provided closer to time. For mapping purposes, it's in Des Plaines IL. Nearest major intersection is Dempster/Thacker and Elmhurst Road.

I have (or had, not positive I still do) a small magic hand mirror but I'm guessing it's not the one you're looking for, Curve82.

Ooooh. Des Plaines? Sounds like a road trip is in order if at all possible - Halloween sale and a char burger from Paradise Pup! Sounds like a perfect weekend! :D

There will be pictures closer to time. Ditto for start time, which will probably be 9 a.m. but I need to check in with the other people who are joining (and helping work) the sale. I'm not physically capable of running the whole thing by myself so my minions get a say :D

Quick update for all concerned: we're still on! Weather man reports cool temps and clear skies for the sale dates.

Friday September 12th: 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Some price negotiations possible, especially on larger or multiple item purchases. Items marked "Firm" will be just that.

Saturday September 13th: 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Much more flexibility on pricing as the day progresses, except on "Firm" items.

Sunday September 14th: 9 a.m. until noon. Everything will be at least half off listed prices except "Firm." Some items may be removed Saturday night if unsold, but for the most part, if it's still there on Sunday we will be very motivated to move it out so bring a truck and stock up!

As to content of the sale: we're going to be down to the wire on getting things out in time. If you can't make it until Saturday, don't despair. Odds are we'll be putting out new things that day as there's too much stuff for the available labor force to pull, sort, and price in time. I'm even considering doing it over two weekends to get everything out in front of people. One very high quality OOAK prop - a dead boy - will definitely not go out until Saturday when a friend drives his body down to be reunited with his head.

For those of you considering a long drive: I would love to tell you that the offerings will justify a trip from several states away. In honesty, I can't. An hour away, sure. More than that, not unless you're combining the visit with some other activity. The casino is a very short drive from my house, for example :) And if you've never been to Portillos Restaurants, do be sure to go; there are none in town but there are several not far away. We are also the home of the very first McDonald's, which is now a mostly closed museum but it is visible from the road.

I will probably be offering some of my medical models, which weren't part of the original remit. Assuming I find it in time, I may also be selling a real human skeletal torso from a man who worked at hard labor and died in his mid-30's; unfortunately some idiot painted it with house paint and I don't have the time to strip it, so it will be selling for around $350, which is considerably less than the bones would bring on evilBay once stripped. If you're interested in the real bones, be sure to ask myself or one of the minions to see it, as it will be kept indoors due to the sensitive nature of both the bones and some shoppers.

If you're looking for foam pumpkins, this will definitely be the sale to visit. I'm going to blow most of mine out cheaply to make room, assuming we can get to them in time. There will also be huge tubs of fake fruit from my Seven Deadly Sins display. Some pirate booty too. A latex "desiccated corpse" from a few years ago, still in great condition. If anyone recalls those incredible handbuilt wooden boxes some of my medical models came in, most of those will be for sale as well.

Just a quick note: I am hoping to reschedule for this coming Saturday, most likely with a soft opening on Friday and a clearance day on Sunday a.m. NOTHING is etched in stone at this point, however. When I plan, the Pumpkin King laughs.
