I want this prop to look like a cheese grater. I would paint with a metallic
paint and paint, sand, paint until the wood grain is gone and it resembled
metal. Then I was thinking about using the bottoms of an egg carton, cutting
them in half and attaching them to the top of the grater. The slicer on the side
would be cut into the plywood and painted to have an edge and possibly drilling
small holes in a pattern for the zester for the other side. My other thoughts
were to airbrush all the details or have my friend print it out on vinyl and
wrap the prop. Since there is so many talented people here. I'd love to hear
their comments and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

OK, cool concept. If i was doing it, i would make a PVC frame and use sheets of rigid foam to actually cut all the holes out. It's more time consuming but i like to do little work like that for bragging writes.

PS. Just in case, i wasn't trying to shoot your way down, just thought i would through my opinion in the ring.

Thank you. I really like your foam idea and never considered foam because I needed something more rigid. I made a platform that rides back and forth on rails and the drive motor is below. Looking back, wood and foam would have been the way to go but the grater is already built. Just needs detail and paint.
