As you mentioned, I don't think the balloon would fly with helium due to the weight, but the looks on people's faces when they saw an illuminated flying ghost through the night's sky would be worth trying :D
The way that things are nowadays, whoever captured it on film would have instant fame:rolleyes:

That ghost is actually quite a brilliant idea.

LOL. Too funny.

This would probably be perfect for an Axworthy style ghost. The biggest difficulty (based on my reading) is the weight of the ghost. This has got to weight next to nothing.

They also make something called a wish lantern or sky lantern. We used them at a wedding last month. After you light them, they glow for about 15 minutes and fly in the air. It would definately get attention to the area of your house on Halloween.

There's no helium shortage. The government is willing to sell it to you dirt cheap, provided you'll buy the entire stockpile of a billion cubic feet of helium.

Besides, if you're using glow sticks, it should be safe to fill your balloons with hydrogen instead. :D
