I finally was able to start some cemetery pillars with the help of my father-in-law this past weekend. We got the structure complete (close to 8 ft tall) and now I just need to work on the painting/detailing. We added a door to the back for storage of props and other items after Halloween. I'm wanting to put both a plaque and some sort of light on the front of the pillar. And suggestions on how to paint these to look like stone? I've seen a lot of different options. I'm hoping these turn out as well as all the other pillars I've seen on the forum. I'll post more pics as the pillars progress. Hopefully these pics post correctly as this is my first post.

Well those pictures didn't post right...(fixed them now).
Those are looking really good so far!

Ow, my neck! :)
Gigantic. Very impressive stature of those beasts...
What are you using, 1/2 inch plywood for the column ? Very nice.
Thanks, I'll post more pics as I progress. I used 3/4 inch plywood so they are pretty heavy and solid.
Very solid looking forward to the pictures.

Figured I would post a bit of the progress on my pillars. I've got MM on them for texture and a coat of Drylok done so far. Still need to get the plaques and lights on and add more detail for the older look. I'm hoping to be done this weekend so I can get them outside. More pics to follow.

My pillars are finally complete and outside. The spider won't be on there, and I may age the plaque a tad more. There is still plenty to set up in the yard (including lighting), but at least these are finally out there.
