Try using aluminium modelling wire - it comes in different thicknesses. If you get the right grade and find a former to shape it round it should keep a circular shape.

I was going to suggest what someone else already suggest, try searching for "pentacle" too. Some get freaked out by that upside down star & its connotations. Yes, they're really 2 completely different things but you know how people get over that stuff.

Another suggestion is search for a Freemason Order of the Eastern Star, they're also more or less pentagrams & could easily be altered.

Actually, it is pretty much impossible for a star to be truly upside-down, regardless of what people seem to think; it is merely slanted to the side (take your pick which direction). I know exactly what you mean about people and their idiocy regarding things that they do not understand (and often do not care to learn more about).

I am honestly surprised that Britain does not have a good variety of options regarding pentagrams, with the prevalence of Gothic architecture and genre artists such as Anne Stokes.

The pentacle and pentagram are truly protections symbols. They aren't bad at all...people just started flipping them around and connecting them to the Devil (in which they would be called an inverted pentacle or inverted pentagram).
It's an Earth/North tool for protection in a circle or altar in my practice. (I am a North/Earth, so I use them often. I carry one on my key chain at all times.) Each corner is connected to an element...Earth, Air, Fire, Water and the top being Spirit. The pentagram is the five sided star, drawn all lines through, while the pentacle is the same lined star, just inside of a circle. It has other meanings for different religions and beliefs, too, most also for protection. Romans, Christians, Pagans and many others have, at some point or another, used this symbol for their own beliefs...again, mostly as protective charms or religious symbols.

Back to the thought on making one yourself...I mentioned I had made one from clay. I used Sculpey clay, you can get it in most craft stores for super cheap. Knead the clay, roll it out, make the pentagram/pentacle you want, bake it and done! Easy! Then you can paint it or attach it to whatever you'd like. I made mine by rolling the clay like cookie dough and using a small circle cookie cutter to cut out a circle, then just etched in my design...you could do that, or cut out the circle with a cutter, then use a knife to cut out the inside pieces so it's open, if you'd prefer. Just another idea for you.

This is what people immediately think of when you say pentagram, just right straight to "DEVIL WORSHIP ERMAHGERHD!!" I'm currently wearing a pentacle I bought on Etsy & I've been waiting for someone to go right to the whole Devil thing. Hasn't happened yet though.

Lol, I know, right? they have always been a good, protective thing for me. The word Pentagram is kind of really a geometry term. A five sided star, the lines filled in, like the connections of a pentagon, hence, the word. Adding the circle around it makes it the Pentacle, the circle connecting the five point, giving it the more spiritual use. This symbol has been around and used since ancient times...long before people started connecting it to the Devil. It is not a sign of the Devil. I wish people would stop thinking it was and inverting it to use in evil devil art and such. It's a symbol of protection...of connection...of all and everything that surrounds us. I will always carry one with me. I will keep them in my house. I am far from a devil worshipper, lol, very, very far. I follow all that is good.

Amy, what kind of a look are you after? Something a bit rustic...or clean lines like meta? If it's rustic you could use some small twigs to form a small rustic pentagram. I kind of like the idea of gluing one down on the book board under the final cover so it looks emobosed or raised out of the skin of the book...

Yes! I love them done with sticks and twigs! Great thought, a_granger!
Amy, if you look in my Pinterest link at the bottom of my signature, you can look in my boards and see some like that in them...possibly in my Indoor Halloween board and Magical/Witchy Things board...

i want 1 to go on the front of the spell book i'm making. so either 1 i can just glue on and its already "pretty" or 1 i have to paper-march over, paint, varnish and then glue on. the book is bigger than A4 size but not A3 hence why a biggish one. I think a metal or wood painted like metal be best, so the twig option wouldn't work.

ebay uk has loads but only necklace/earring size, and i'm not finding much in the way on google. I odnt really want to have to ship from USA as this ups my cost - i want as cheap as possible as its only going to be out once a year
