So, last night I mentioned to my wife that our Spirit store was opening up today. Well, she calls me up this morning and starts the call with "If I promise you can go to Spirit tomorrow, can you do me a favor?" What a thing to have held over your head. :D

Pfft!

'If I promise you can go'?

"Honey, I'll let you know when I go to Spirit. I'll also gladly do you a favor, because I want to do that, too."

My wife and I get clearance from each other on financal expenses, but I don't need permission to visit a store. Neither does she.

Now if your wife had said "If I promise you can spend $300 of our money at Spirit tomorrow...", that would be closer to the sorts of conversations we have.
The two go hand and hand at my house. If I say I'm going to a store, it means I'm spending money.
This sounds like a trap to me. She might have you busy painting plates for the rest of your LIFE!!! RUNNNN!!!!!! :D
Actually, I was planning on going during my lunch hour today, and her errand is actually getting the kids from point A to point B. Not a big deal, but she knows me well enough to use Spirit as a "Bribe." Now what I spend while Im there............. :)
Dont spend all your lunch money. I mean a man has to eat right :D

See, this is why I'm single - I'll be spending over $150 on my Ghostbuster costume this year :)

I agree but we go one step further, our money is our own too. He pays half the bills, I pay half. We have seperate checking accounts. you blow all your money on fun stuff, don't come crying to me! LOL We been married 19 years, and it's been that way since day one. Only rule we made along the way was, if it was an expenditure over $500, we were to consult the other person. That's why I buy my Halloween items in $100 increments!! :D
Love your arrangement and how you think!! Sounds like it works well for you:D

I had that arrangement with my GF when she moved in....she paid a set amount and I paid all the bills and the groceries. Since I made more than she did, I paid a larger portion of the bills....then we had our seperate accounts. Since the house was mine, I paid for everything that could be considered a home improvement. It worked out great, especially now that we're breaking up, it's easy to seperate what belongs to whom...
BevAnn that's a brilliant idea! That's how things are with the bf and I, but I like the idea of keeping it into marriage, he has horrible money management skills. Err, I guess he lacks money management skills. lol
