I've decided that this Halloween I'd like to try Painting my Pumpkins black, has anyone ever tried this, and is there a certain type of black spray paint that would would best? I have Tremclad, does anyone know if this will do the job? Look forward to any suggestions

Last year I painted a few pumpkins with black floral spray paint. Got it at the craft store. Worked very well.

I couldn't find the pic I have, but will look this weekend for you. It looked good and we didn't try hard. It was for our office pumpkin contest 2 years ago.

I am doing a couple thise year with black chalkboard spray paint. I have them painted and tomorrow will draw on them with chalk. I was just going to do a spider web on one and not sure what on the other yet. I post pics tomorrow when they're done.

Hey Halloween Princess, thanks for posting them, they turned out great! So you used just plain black spray paint on them?

No, it's actually called chalkboard spray paint. Lowes and Home Depot both have it in the paint section. Then I chalked all over it and rubbed it around to give it the used look, then drew my images.

Really awesome chalkboard pumpkins! They turned out great. I'm tempted to try it on fake pumpkins and using them all year-round.
I wonder if my husband will pay attention to my notes of they're on a pumpkin? :D

On the fake pumpkin issue, Michaels craft store is having a good sale on fake pumpkins. I got a couple 10.5" pumpkins for $4.80 each yesterday, and they have others sizes as well for similar costs. I think the biggest ones were $8, usually sell for $20.

I have done a number of the fake pumpkins. they look great and I put in the fake flickering battery powered lights that are sold everywhere. I use a dremel tool to carve them.

Ok the pumpkins are painted a nice glossy black and are looking mighty cool. Will be carving them on the 29th, and I'll be sure to snap some photos so you all can see the end result:)

Ok so the pumpkins are painted a glossy black. I decided to bring them inside tonight so that they will be easier to carve tomorrow and Draven had to get right up there and decide for himself what he thought of them, and by the look I figur<a href="http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd47/blackkat_1970/?action=view&current=Halloween2008004-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd47/blackkat_1970/Halloween2008004-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>ed he'd approved of them, so here's the great pumpkin guardian, enjoy:)
