BATES MOTEL

Monday, March 9 on A&E
9/8C

It's almost time for our favorite motel to kick out the cobwebs and vermin and wipe up the blood and start taking in guests again. Thought I'd send out a heads up. After leaving us with Norman undergoing questioning, I know I'll be checking in again this year.

I wonder if they will rerun Season 2 eps before starting the new season. I need an update on where we left off with Norma and Dylan.

We don't get On Demand so that leaves me out. But thanks. It might help someone out who does.

There are apparently episodes, including the previews, that you can watch on the website. They require Flash however. Really surprised A&E hasn't moved onto a more accepted standard. Adobe has said it won't support soon and their moving on, and even YouTube has dropped it from their website. Oh well. Anyone using a mobile app to view? I hate using these TV apps in general as they don't seem that well written based on many of the reviewer comments. If I notice the season repeating on A&E I'll let people know.

OK update to above. I checked out the AppStore for A&E's app and it, unlike some other networks' apps, had really good user reviews. Downloaded and it does have commercials but the video played flawlessly. I watched two of the preview clips for Season 3 and whoa, this is going to be the season that explains it all and Norman really becomes the Norman we know from the movie version. Lock your doors. I'm already feeling creeped out and I don't think the Motel will ever be the same again. .....It's been nice knowing you Norma.

The A&E AppStore app says the Season 2 episodes can be watched up until March 9 or 10th I think, when Season 3 starts. Believe I saw that they will be available on netflix after that. Not sure where else.

I'm a couple of episodes into season 2 on Netflix, great show! I'm trying to space them out by watching one episode every other day or so but I know I'm going to go into withdrawl when I finish season 2 because it will probably be some time before Netflix gets season 3.

Soooo looks like Norman has a new car.....

And he's dating....I hope nothing bad happens to the girl with the oxygen tank. She should die a natural death.

Norma made a BIG mistake with Norman after her mom died and her death had a chance to sink in. Dylan was rightly giving her advice which was accepted but then a new precident was set.

Norma wanted nothing from her mom's estate. I assume because she allowed the abuse to happen for all those years. Good for her. She does have her bright moments when I really like her a lot. Tragically she had such a horrible childhood but I love how she really tries to make things better with no real role model to fall back on. Had Norman not had his emotional/mental issues she might have been OK. I'm assuming we know how this will turn out for her.

Dylan's dad reaches out to Dylan. He actually doesn't seem like a bad guy. Do you think he took the time to fill Dylan in on some of his family background?

Personally, I would have taken the money. It would not change the pain of the past, of course, but why not at least attempt to make life in the moment as easy as possible, especially when the motel's future is seemingly in jeopardy?

No, Dylan's father does not seem bad, just misguided. He very well may be attempting to have a relationship with his son for the right reasons, although some of it is also due to selfish motivations ("I really have no one left..."). After being absent from his son's life for such a large chunk of time, I can understand Dylan's attitude.

Writers are doing a good job of stringing us along, if a trial started today and I was a juror , I wouldn't be positive that Norman killed the hooker

I have zero interest in Dylan and his dad. As much as the Norma/Norman thing gives me the squeems, I find their story more interesting.

Episode 2 The Arcanum Club

Because of Norman's recent actions and his past with the school teacher, I'm pretty sure she's (the motel guest) going to be dead and he'll be the reason. In fact could she be the body floating face down I think we saw in this week's preview for next week? The fact that he wants to date Emma and be her Peter Pan to his Wendy (no sex was the implication) maybe offers some hope she'll die of natural causes. Bradley did get away.

Dylan and Dad have been kind of peripheral characters but I'm hanging in there with them. Norma's brother is there as evidence of her abuse and why she is the way she is (good and bad traits) and maybe knows more family secrets that will come out. And Dylan has served as someone Norman has been jealous of and vice versa a bit too (mother's attention and that of girls he's liked). I'd like to hope that somehow Dylan might save Norma down the road but not counting on it. I'm not into the growing operation at all but that and the other illicit stuff going on in and around town mean that people kind of keep to themselves and keep secrets so helps explain why some of the goings on stay hidden away.

Of course Norma still has the Sheriff for some protection. I liked their scenes together this episode; both when he was moving out of the motel now that his house had been rebuilt, and also when he sent her on her way at the Arcanum Club to keep her safe.

I was feeling Norma's creeping doubt as their motel guest remained absent. She's always very careful how she phrases her questions to Norman so as not to acuse him of anything. She tries to be so supportive. Definitely sure I understood her feelings though when she told Norman in frustration that she didn't know how much longer she could do this.

Have to say I LOL when Norma met the Bridge Sign. And she so matter of factly admitted it to Norman. I thought she looked great all dressed up for the Arcanum Club. The Sheriff needs to get her out more!

The scene involving the sign was definitely good for a laugh.

The dead body very likely is the missing guest; they may twist it and have the face-down woman turn out to be someone else, although I cannot think of anyone else of even slight importance to the plot(s) who has gone missing.

That guy Chic, so weird, what the heck is he talking about, rabbits? Looks like the run in with is sowing the seeds for some bonding between Dylan and his uncle/dad

I didn't hear the rabbit reference. Did he say his dog, who hadn't come home, had gone chasing after a rabbit? There's definitely some intimidation or posturing going on between the neighbors.

Episode 3 Persuasion

Woah, good episode last night. I was shocked to see the camera pull out to reveal Emma as the woman dressing in the beginning. I'm suddenly more worried for her. Especially if she has caught the attention of Dylan and her boyfriend from last season in addition to officially dating Norman.

Norma's comment to the effect of wanting a normal life didn't go unnoticed by me. Liked the scene at Trout Lake Comminity College on her first day. I was wondering if she was going to feel the need to grab the business card. After that bathroom scene, woah!, my heart just went out to her as she ran down the stairs to get away to some place of sanity. And then we find out about what happened to the missing motel guest....

Emotions (for me too) are really starting to ratchet up.

So what was placed in Norma's hand at the end? Was it money? I thought she said to do something with it for herself or for Norman, so money made the most sense to me.

I don't think it was money but no idea what it was, actually am glad Norman did not kill the hooker, would of been too many killings too soon for him, he is for sure on his way, obviously, I actually like the different plots, some I know want it just about Norma and Norman, but wouldn't make it a long running show , interesting wise, The guy running against the sheriff is barking up the wrong tree if he was trying to intimidate .
