Hey Everyone,

I currently live in an apartment and am looking to do something fun and unique to decorate my balcony. However, I'm drawing some blanks on ideas on ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions, examples or ideas on what might be cool to do within such a space?

I'd appreciate everyone's help and ideas.
Thanks!

Create a Michael Jackson dummy holding a small child out over the railing. Motorize it so the baby moves around.

Use a mannequin or a dummy, life-size. Have it arms stretched out over the railing, holding a girl by the ankles, with her arms hanging down, her head back looking at the ground, and her long hair hanging down around her face. use a skirt that will invert around upper torso. Use funny bloomers with hearts or something tactful, OR go the lace garter route. Motorize the arms to appear ready to drop her.

Do two HUGE sets of four fingers over the railing. A BIG head in the middle, only visible from the eyes up. Evil bloodshot eyes looking down at the viewers below, wild hair (string mops? Silly String?) deep breathing sounds...

A big sheet of thin plastic painter's tarp. Attach the bottom along the outer edge closest to the bottom of the railing. Attach the upper edge just above the sliding glass door. Drape the plastic slightly loose. Use a red and green light bulb on one side, a blue and yellow light bulb on the other side, shining up at the center region of the plastic. Use a fan blowing from low and each side to make the plastic flutter in the wind. The patio will appear to be engulfed in flames.

Set up a scene on your balcony! My first thought was have a couple skellies "hanging" out. Maybe have one dangling from the railing and the other standing trying to pull them up. If you have a third skellie, have him trying to climb the building.

Perhaps some witches cackling around their latest brew. You could have a fog machine hooked up to the caldron or use some dry ice to create a nice effect.

You could set up some eyes on the inside of your place to follow someone from the street. That's pretty easy to make. Get some foam board that's painted black and a large plastic bowl, preferably frosted (you can always spray paint). Cut a circle out of the foam for the bowl, the bowl is going to be your eye. On the inside of the bowl put your iris and glue the lip of your bowl to the foam and set it up in your window. Be sure to block off the whole window or the effect will be ruined. It's a pretty easy thing to do, I saw it in a youtube video. If I come across it again I'll post a link.

Last but not least you can set up a projector so that it looks like you have ghosts pacing on your balcony.
