Hey, Everybody.

The skeletons I typically find for sale around Halloween are rather limited in terms of their freedom of joint movement. This really limits posing options.

Are (affordable) skelly’s available with ball and socket joints? Do folks somehow hack the cheap skelly joints to get the poses they want?

Appreciate your thoughts!

A variety of methods were used on this. The shoulder joints were disassembled and reamed out until free movement up/down was achieved. The elbows were cut and shaved and then fitted with bolts. The wrist joint tabs were cut off and replaced with small eye screws which allows the hands to be turned in any direction while also allowing free movement. The right hip mechanism was completely removed and refitted with a bolt and lock nut, same thing at the knee. He's also free standing via a 3/8" threaded rod that runs up through the left leg. The left hip joint was glued, screwed, and tattooed. The spine was disassembled and stiffened with 3/8" rod glued inside and fastened into the pelvis. So yeah, this guy was a ton of work. ?
