What a reminder that this is Oct. The time where you want to get started on your displays. Trying to get excited and pull out all your stuff that sat for a year in storage not seeing the light of day. Then the day comes, and all its been is RAIN! If not for that, then comes the WINDS!!! I am talking 57 km/h ( 35 mile/hr )or higher. On average everyday is between 10-25 km/h ( 6 - 16 miles/ h )everyday in Oct here in Canada. Driving me nuts trying to put things out without it blowing out of my hand at times! So I end up going in the house not doing a thing, getting bummed.:(

That stinks! :( It's been warm here in GA.... Hot some days. That makes it no fun sometimes. Wind hasn't been an issue yet this year, but it usually is.
I'm sure that stinks. I know right now I have stuff all over my driveway that are works in progress and they are predicting rain for the next 3-5 days. So today is going to be all about getting as many projects done as possible and then cleaning up before the storms head in tomorrow. I'll have to figure out what I can work on inside if it truly does rain all weekend.
Yeah, its real windy here today. We don't usually put out alot of stuff though.
Tamster, probably one in 5 years here sees rain and wind and cold leading up to Halloween or on that day. Too hard to tell yet but this year might be one of those years for us here and I felt deflated seeing the predictions so can only imagine tyring to set up during an entire month of October of fighting the elements.

Don't know about what kind of space you have to set up in but can you do an interior set up at least to start off with...sort of house with ghouls, witches, etc. looking to get out? I'm not talking about decorating the interior really but your windows as they appear from outside.
Yep, today was to be my setup day, but it's raining out. I live in the middle of the Arizona desert, one of the hottest and driest places on earth, and it's been raining since 5 a.m. and is supposed to rain all day.
We've been blessed with really nice weather here, and I haven't made good use out of it so I'm kicking myself. I'm sure mother nature is waiting until the last week to really stomp us.

Hang in there. Sounds like you're doing amazing...as always. If it helps, you could try doing little "sprints" and just say you're going go and do what you can for 20 minutes and then take a break until the next hour rolls around. Wind and rain is tough and exhausting though.

Our problem here is we've got a huge crabapple tree in our front yard, so when the wind comes up, I'm running serpentine through the yard trying to dodge the rotten apples. Looks pretty bloody when all is done. But I'll take that over rain or snow any day.

Sending good thoughts your way for better weather ahead.

Quite the opposite, actually. We're in such a severe drought that our municipal water supply is likely to be gone in less than three months if we don't get significant rainfall soon. My yard is so dry and hard that it took me all day Sunday to get the stakes for my tombstones pounded into it. So if it should happen to rain us out on Halloween, I have to say, I would not complain one bit.

winds a hard one to control things with, rain, you can put up a tent for cover......but that stinks too.... im on the side of down sizing and fighting it left and right, i cant do it all big anymore physically and now not using a tent so have to rush to fight weather, and i just cant do it like i used to....or maybe dont want to deal with the stress as much now............i hear you.............i think everyone deals with different issues where they live. are you all changing weather systems up there now for cold? is that where the winds comng from? hope it settles down for you.
just do what you can do. Meanwhile the weather was good when I put stuff out. It was windy and raining and thundering and lighting. Now Rainbow and pretty blue sky.
Our place is on top of a hill. There's a lot of beautiful woodland around in the valleys, but much of the ridge is agricultural land with little to slow down the wind. We have a windbreak grove, but it doesn't do miracles.
My outdoor decorating is dictated by the weather. It's why I don't have headstones. It's why it's Venetian Victoria's third Halloween with me, and she has yet to be displayed (this should be her year!) I put some thought into how to work around the weather, and I have more outside this year (though not even close to some forum members' outdoor haunts!) I have to use heavier items, or keep them well-anchored. I'm feeling good about how it's progressing.
I have a double lot so I had downsized this year haha. Its going on my WIDE OPEN not alot of trees open land lot. I just did another go at it, holy hell, my ears are hurting as I struggle just to put up two thing and tie them down. I won't go into my chant I am saying to the halloween gods right now, it wasn't pretty. I not giving up, no way........but man I wish I have a magic wand right now.

LOL dodging the rotten apples, ok you beat me on that one! And don't say the " S " word, that is considered a swear word around here. ya know S-N-O-W ;)

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?????!!!! that's just WRONG

Not even close to beating you. Bad weather can really drain you to the bone. The rotten apples are sadly self-inflicted (I need a bigger ladder).

Sorry I mentioned the S word. We already had a big dump in mid-september that we're still cleaning up after. Literally tons and tons of broken branches (which, come to think of it, might be handy for Halloween.)

Sounds excatly like Indiana I feel for you my friend mines not out either.:(
Since I factor weather into my designs, the only policy change I had to make was NO COBWEBS BEFORE OCT 25TH! My kids would always put cobwebs up first and then between wind and rain they would sag, I was constantly running into them, they would start falling apart, and would need to be redone before Halloween. Now, no more webs until nearer the big day.
