Some one I know has the static version of a mad dog prop but wants to convert it into the vibrating or animated version. I've seen this prop in person and it has a hollow cavity. The prop is made out of foam. Anyone know what kind of motor could be used to get the thing moving?

Sorry - I misread your post. You ask "what could I use" not "what do they use". I'm thinking an old sewing machine motor would work. Actualy if you put a weight on the hand wheel to make it vibrate you might be able to just fit the dog on top of an old sewing machine. I guess if it doesn't work at least you could fix the holes in your socks : - )

Does the static version of the mad dog have the metal support piece inside? If it does your best bet would be to contact distortions and see if they'll sell you just the motor. Finding a motor that will fit won't be a problem, the problem will be securing it to the prop (if it doesn't have the metal support).
