I have, in the past, used a Boom Box, concealed, by the Driveway to set the tone for TOT's approaching the house. For years we used the soundtrack from the old Roy Scheider movie, "Sorcerer", but it was so freaky a lot of smaller kids refused to come up the drive... And I can't say I blame them. Lately we've used a mix of Halloween themed songs. That feels old hat now, predictable. Any suggestions? Anybody use anything that's creepy, but not TOO creepy?

I have been using the CD's you can get at any store of the average Halloween sounds, chainsaw, chains, thunder lighting
etc.... and I made some of all TV themes too which is not creepy but fits Halloween really good. Im going with new sounds this
year and a second radio set about 100 feet off to the side of the main radio and back 30 feet will play just thunder and lightning.
The issue is not going to creepy and scary because of little kids.... but scary enough to make it fun

I use a track from the Haunted Mansion Movie orchestrated sound track mixed with some ambient sounds (crickets, wind, moans and thunder) It is creepy more for adults who get affected by the swelling and falling of the orchestration, the kids don't seem as affected by it.

I just listened to part of this...sounds great if an orchestrated sound is what you're after...

I use this for my mausoleum / graveyard ambient music.... very creepy/disturbing, unique and not your typical run-of-the-mill kiddie stuff....yet still sets the stage...it's from the movie Eyes Wide Shut - Masked Ball

Really excellent idea and a great find...I may have to borrow this idea when we get our cemetery started (next year?)... thanks for sharing.

I use a free software called audacity to combine sound bites that I download off the internet. If you have a microphone on your computer you can also use it to record yourself, modify the sound of your voice and include it in the sound track.
there's lots of youtube videos demonstrating how to use it and save everything.

Same here. I found a bunch of storm sounds and videos on youtube and then edited them all together. Thunder, wind, owls, some crows and a few zombies passing from right to left like a hoard is passing by. I also put some halloween music in there like thriller and the sound track to halloween. Gotta have that in there. :D I also recorded my self doing zombie noises and modified them a bit. audacity works super well. one of the bests i've used.

I run two rock speakers out to the "cemetery". I would say listen to some stuff from Midnight Syndicate and Nox Arcana. I put together a play list from both, and it sounds AWESOME!

Well, I just use four crap CD players play zombie moaning.....I use two rock speakers for the lightening machine and a larger stereo system to play scary music sounds. This gives the cemetery a layered effect....No not like a 70's porn movie.......More like a cheap B movie.

I loop a sound effect of bugs and "swampy" sounds with a low dose of kids screaming and calling out. You can listen to it here;

I really like this. I've been using mp3's from CD from pottery barn that had a mad scientist lab, haunted house, and some other stuff and just looped the playlist. I like this a little better I think. Okay to download and use?

There are multiple sounds effects around my cemetery. When you come from one direction you come into thunder and lightening effects with the flashing lights and the Zombie box control. The speakers face the road and it is just loud enough to pull the effect off of being in a storm. As you come to the Cemetery gates, I have crows sitting on top of the posts looking down at everyone as they enter. Hidden in the stalks is a portable player with the sounds of the crows cawing. Coming into the Cemetery you come upon my Cauldron Creep as he stirs his pot. Here I have another hidden player with the bubbling sounds of the cauldron. Over all these sounds is my 5 disc player, playing music or creepy sounds depending on what track it is on. It is a delicate balance of all but each has it's own area so the effect for that specific area is heard above the rest. Works out well.
