So I usually go all out and do a massive yard display every year. I havent been able to for the last couple years but will finally have the space next year. I want to re-do the pirate ship I did a few years ago, but I want to make it look like its on the bottom of the ocean and do a full underwater themed yard display. Has anyone ever done anything like that? I'm curious for some ideas for props. I'm thinking some coral, skeleton fish, creepy mermaids, and undead pirates similar to the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, etc.

I'm going to alternate using pallets to simulate the cribbing used in mines, and foam insulation carved and painted to look like rocks. I'm going to try and incorporate an infinite mirror looking into a chasm, a drop panel to have one of the kids reach out and grab at people and various odd and ends I'm still putting together. Already put to together a mine cart for the entrance. Will have to start a thread once I really start going.

Some ideas...

- Maybe lots of neon-colored things that would go well in black-light (like the end of the Shiny musical sequence in Moana) (You could have a lot of fun with lighting and ripple effects)
- Treasure chest(s)
- Kraken tentacles encompassing the area
- Giant sea serpent skeleton
- Shells and turtle shells
- Row boat scenes?
- Shipwreck debris throughout the yard
- Bubble machine?
- Underwater cave light show?

My 2019 display will be the largest and most complex one that I have ever attempted. It's only March and I'm already a month behind schedule and feeling the pressure. If I can pull-it-off it will definitely be a sight to see. More details to come as I get props completed (attached are some teaser images from a couple of months ago)...

All I can think of is a scary miner! Totally fun idea.

We do a decent set up in our front yard and our side yard. Sorry, but no massive builds. Wish we had the space for some of the amazing things I’ve seen on the site, but sadly no room. Front yard will include our five witches from last year and a new one with a poison Apple. Still looking at adding one more cause we are the “witch house” after all. Beside the witches and their kitchen, going with scarecrows, lots of pumpkins, crows etc and some random creepy produce. Would love to build a decent sign. Side yard is a werewolf in a graveyard with ghouls and skeletons. Still trying to figure out what to put on our porch. I don’t have large trees to tie anything to but I’d love something high up that flies but haven’t quite figured out how to make that happen.

Very cool idea. First thing that comes to mind is some kind of Davy Jones Locker prop. Also if your yard is supposed to be under water I'm imagining two pirates or skeletons in a rowboat suspended in the air above your yard to make it look like they're rowing on the surface. Might be very difficult to do though.
