Hello all I'm planning my first Halloween party/dinner and like the title says I'm going for a witch themed feast. I want things that look "earthy" like someone went roaming in the woods trying to find things to put on the table. I've come up with several appetizers/ snacks and desserts (thanks to Pintrest) but a main course has me stumped, everything I find is too cute :(. Does anyone on here have any ideas? I don't need a banquet just something cheap that can feed about 6-8 people.

Sounds like a great party! I love that you are going earthy. Do you have much with mushrooms or squash in your dishes already?

I suggest stuffed mushrooms: as a main dish, I suggest portobello mushrooms, since they are big. Mix up something you'd fill a meat dish with (like rice & cheese.) bake, and serve. Has the added bonus of easily fitting into various diets.

I love the stew idea! I think a hearty chili with lots of beans (red, black & white) with meat chunks & maybe some red & green peppers, maybe garnished with a dollop of sour cream & a black olive "eyeball" at each place could be cool too! We do a white chicken chili that is really yummy every Halloween. Some crusty brown bread alongside would look very earthy.

I actually have a neat Pin on my Halloween page that features an eyeball stew in miniature - it's not real food, but the look of it is so awesome! Perhaps if you made some round potatoes, you could use some of those colored food pens/icing pens to draw on eyeballs, and maybe you'd get a similar look ~

I know you said you have a lot of ideas for desserts already, but when DD turned 3, we did a gnome party for her and I made the donut hole acorns that have been on Pinterest, and they were SO CUTE and got gobbled up -

I don't like Nutella (gasp!), so I used chocolate cake icing instead.

Here's a neat candle idea that I think is very "earthy" looking for a Halloween table ~
