Anyone here watch Shark Tank? I'm ob-freaking-sessed with the show. I didn't start out that way but I started watching outta boredom & now I can't stop.

Last week they had a woman on by the name of Melissa Carbone who made the biggest Shark Tank deal ever for $2 million dollars & it was in the haunted attraction business!!

She used to be with Clear Channel, the giant radio conglom that pretty much owns every radio station in the US, so that helped her cred. She wasn't some soccer mom starting a vegan dog toy business, she was already in a successful business making tons of money.

The Sharks were stunned when she told them how much money she made with haunted attractions & their jaws dropped.

"We do attractions all year long. We have the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride, which is our seasonal attraction here in LA," she explained. "Seventeen nights we sell out every single night. We do about $1.8 million right now per October."

That got a collective "whoa" from the Sharks.

What's more, with the production costs for the haunted hayride at $1.2 million, Carbone said her company is able to walk away with $600,000 in cash at the end of the 17 days.

"You sell out every night for 17 days?" investor Kevin O'Leary echoed, in disbelief.

"Every night," Carbone said.
I was really rooting for her to get someone to snap her up & she did! She even came out with zombies & several other creatures. It was pretty cool.

So there is money to be made in the industry, but first you gotta have a name, then money to make money to get MORE money to make money!!!

We saw Shark Tank last night but missed that episode. Darn. Shark Tank is hubby's favorite show or close to it and he's not a big TV watcher. He just really likes it. I had put it on a few times and initially he didn't want to watch it. But a couple of segments that he was in the room for got him interested in it, and now he looks forward to watching it even though we get it at 10pm. I would have loved to have seen this one. Wonder how we missed it. Do you remember who else was on the show? Love to catch it in reruns.

Nice to hear that Carbonne does so well although LA kind of makes sense. Travelers to the city are looking for entertainment and I'm sure this is similar to any of the amusement parks there.

I think the horror camps helped too. I get the impression that it's a Friday 13th kind of experience so that helped too. A sleepaway camp tied to a horror experience, plus she had a really great pitch.

It's one of the few shows I DVR. I love it too !!

I thought she did a great job pitching her business also, she handled it very well.

Has anyone noticed that Barbara is getting quite snippy with Lori lately, it seems real odd.

I saw that episode! I was so happy for her success.

I'm also a Shark Tank junkie. They have the same format show in Canada called Dragon's Den. Both have Kevin O'Leary. I watch both shows and always learn a lot.
