Well, with next year halloween falling on a saturday and hoping that I can give out candy depending on school goes I want to really go crazy this year. With that said I plan to making a dining room and really getting some props done. I'm looking into an armored knight for the dining area, either with a skeleton and some armor like i had seen in a post some where or a full armored knight. Anyone have any ideas for this prop? Last year I did plan on giving a break but did some decorating since prop work was not a big big thing.

Sometimes Home Goods has them for a very reasonable price ($60-$80). They're not always just at Halloween, either. It would be difficult (maybe do-able if you have the skill & tools) to make a durable suit for less.
(I believe it's a Mon. next year.)

You may also want to search around for cosplay armor how to's.
People make full suits out of everything from cardboard to the foam matting that people use as flooring in garage/shops. I will dig around and see if I can find a post on it

Yes - I made a leather look breastplate out of the EVA foam matting material this year - it is supposed to be dragon leather but foam can look like metal as well.

Ever consider speaking to someone in the SCA or similar history organization in your area. I used to have a full suit of gothic plate, always planned on fighting in it. I put red leds in my bascinet one year and was an evil black knight.

Glad to hear you are going big again this year!

I was just down in Allentown at the Merchant's Square Mall (like an indoor flea market). One of the vendors had a suit of armor type thing out front of their stall. I did not notice a price tag, but it was thin metal and I stood a bit looking at it, thinking how cool it would be to make one. So if you get down there, you could inspect it for ideas. It's not far off 309 down past Cedar Crest.

Yep and being on a Monday so I will have all weekend to setup for the big day. The dining room with medevil knights and props would
be awesome. I would like to do that but dont want tons of people parading through my house.....

I had exactly that problem last year. I do the outside which is 'public'. Then I decorated inside which was meant for friends and family only. However, on the big night, it was very tricky blocking strangers from walking in the front door when my invited guests were walking in. It got very awkward at times. I apparently need to rethink this a little.

Bongobill has done work on armoured skellies this year - but I don't think that is the one you mean?

Got a shipment of food last month (don't ask...long story), and the food came in two large boxes lined with 2'x2' of 2" thick Styrofoam!!! So I now have 12 slabs of free foam to play with and make new headstones for next year! Thanks to that I'll probably double my graveyard display. I think I was more excited about that than any x-mas gift I got this year. #sadbuttrue

I read that using a hot knife to cut/shape Styrofoam is the way to go. So I think I'll go that route...much less messy. It's only December and I already can't wait to get started.
