I'm still trying to build the fence I wanted to do last year for my cemetery. I have most of the stuff I need but I am also in the middle of prepping my house so I can paint it. Need to build one more zombie and two more tombstones.
You can always try. I usually finish with about a week to spare.
This is what I have done thus far. I finished the ribbing, duck taped the entire thing and have put on the first layer of paper mache. It's now a waiting game for it to dry. Plus there are some massive rain storms headed this way. I'm hoping it will be dry enough to get a second layer on today yet. I'm now off to build the structure for the creep wish me luck.
Texturing is now done. Here are some updated shots of both the cauldron and the creep. Note I ran out of oatmeal for the texturing so I used bird seed. It looks to have turned out great. We'll have to wait and see what it looks like when it's painted up.
This is amazing. I am doing a witchy themed party this year and was just wondering what I was going to do for a cauldron... Can't wait to see what you do with it!
Here's an update. Today the arms came and so did the wiper motor. To bad I forgot to order the quick connect for the motor. The cauldron is all painted and the arms are all hooked up.
Well I got quite a bit accomplished today. The head motor is on and working. All the chicken wire is on for body contouring and it ready to be dressed with the final bit. All that is left for this project is to install the wiper motor in the cauldron and make some new coals for underneath.
Well it's time for a update. It's not a good one as I'm almost finished but I accidentally messed of the frame. I didn't see that his right arm actually has a PVC frame to it as well. So now I have to cut the shoulder area and figure out how to splice the arm segment in there. Anyways here's a picture.
Ok well here's an update. and better yet a video. I have a little work to do yet on it. I want to run a drier hose to the cauldron. Then I can fill the whole hose with ice and get a better low fog. That's also the cheap juice in the machine. I'll be saving the froggies for the big day.
Oh wow. That looks so awesome. I really want to make this guy but I think I lack the know-how for it (for the moment anyway). I think this is going to be a really good looking prop when you're done with him.
I did mine without any of the external framing. Just fuse the upper (holding arm) at the elbow in a natural looking position with screws, glue, whatever, then use a screw through an oversized hole in the hand to attach it to your stick. The oversized hole should be large enough to leave some wiggle room, but not be big enough for the screw head to pass through. You may or may not need to secure the arm at the shoulder too. I did on mine because it made the torso move a little, which looks cool. The lower (stirring) should just be loosely attached at the shoulder and elbow and attached to the stick at the hand. I think a bent wrist on the stirring hand looks more realistic, like it's taking a little effort to stir. Your creep looks great BTW.
Also I need some input. I'm interested in what others think I should use for the flood light color? I'm thinking the yellow amber or maybe just a plain yellowish light bulb. I don't want it to bright but I want people to notice the details (little skeletons on the cauldron, skull on the stick, etc.)
Looks great. It looks like the head rotates and rocks up and down, is this just from the play in the pvc hinge? The mechanism looks like it should only rock the head up and down.
