Well refreshed and ready to go for 2015, and despite wanting to do Evil Egypt, my Daughter has persuaded me to do Creepy Carnival. I wasn't really going to start props just yet, but we have had a couple of days holiday off work and Hubby decided he was going to clear the loft out. After sometime been moaned at about the amount of cardboard and stuff I have hoarded up there I decided to pacify him and make a start which proved how much I need all that stuff.....;) So I made my carnival entrance sign.

Started off with a strip of cardboard and took about two hours to freehand draw the lettering which I found on an old vintage poster. Then I painted the the lettering using neon pink and green paint, with black border to enhance the detail, here it is half finished
Text Font Pink Number

After a further two hours of painting the letters I painted the background in a very light shade of white just make the sign look more older
and poked holes through the card and threaded in my old flashing tree lights
Text Pink Font Floor Flooring
Pink Font Text Wall Street art

As you can see from the picture the lights didn't look too impressive or old, so then had the idea of using the bag of plastic balls my Daughter had when she was little, just put a hole in the bottom and popped the ball over the tree light, and what a difference it made. I am really pleased with the outcome and definately think it gives that old carnival feel. Got loads of these balls left in all colours so going to stick with this idea for all my carnival lighting. As it was too difficult to photograph I've shown the finished sign on short video in the dark. Any ideas for improvement always welcome:) and all from a days loft clearing!!!!!!!

They are those light plastic balls that you put in kids ball pools. We had a great big bag of them from when she was little in the loft all different colours, and they work really well i think to get that carnival/circus light effect:)

I have so many Carnevil props to give away! Wish you were closer than across the pond ! I had a blast making props for this theme, but now they need a new home. I am too old to do this one again. Going lighter on the builds from here on out. Love your starting project.

Thanks Paint It Black, I literally have a loft full of what hubby classes as junk, but it's amazing what you can make out of stuff what you think you are never going to use. It's only because he has no creativity in him! By the way my Mum would love your pic, she is a mega Stones fan:)

Oh lemonade, I am gutted now:( They would have been more welcome to find a new home here! Problem is with UK there's not many people who go all out with Halloween so there's never anything like this available here. By the way lemonade, your never too old, sure there is plenty of fizz left yet:D

Thanks Ghost of Spookie. As I said in my thread, I was kind of pushed into action, as Hubby was having a rant about the state of the loft so thought I better prove I was starting! It took ages to do the lettering, I saw it on an old poster, but it took ages to draw freehand and then paint, it won't be something I will be doing on all my props that's for sure:)
