varnish

I want to do a quick project and need advice. If I were to paint (acrylics) on a paver (8X8 or so) brick, what could I use to seal it so the brick can stay outside? Would spar varnish work? I already have that from a different project.

Finished some paper mache stuff and need to weather proof it. I have done alot of reading at sites like Jwall from Youtube, Stolloween, Halloween Forum, Garage of Evil, etc and still cant make a decision....Do I use just regular Spar Varnish or should I spend the extra dough and buy the Marine...
