headstone

  1. General Halloween
I want to attach some silk roses to a headstone and make them look like they were cast into the stone. I usually apply 2 coats of DryLock over the foam. Do I try to attach with monster mud and then the Drylock ? I want the flowers to look natural on the stone.

So this year I purchased a rotting corpse from Distortions Unlimited and I needed a coffin to display it. Let me just say, there are NOOOO decent coffins to purchase retail! I searched because I didn’t want to build it this year. Well, I ended up having to build one. I’m glad I did because it...
  3. Halloween Props
This was my first time attempting to sculpt a prop and I think it turned out pretty well. My plan is to finish the pneumatics of it tomorrow so he can hopefully pop up from behind his headstone.
  4. Tutorials and Step-By-Step
HI. I am trying to find a tutorial on how to build a tombstone peaker. I am not sure what it is called, but its where the skelly or ghoul peaks out from behind headstone and goes back down. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, corbieq

Has anyone ever used a lenticular on a headstone? How well does it hold up to the weather? Is a water proof sealant around the outside edge enough to keep it dry and free from warping? Please let me know what you think.

My latest tombstone creation. This one is a bit different for me as I have never done a "funny" epitaph stone before. I was thinking of selling it locally so I made it "family friendly". This stone is a bit over 2 feet tall and 18 inches wide.

Hi Everyone! I wanna show off my first stone. Made a ton of rookie mistakes (carved the "body" too thin to engrave an epitaph, so I have no idea what I'm gonna do - not wanting to just paint it on!!), but it was super fun! I followed Terra's (sorry for the misspell in the title!) painting...
  10. Halloween Props
Hey everyone! I snatched up about 10 of these from Dollar Tree and thought I'd share my ideas with them. You all have brilliant minds, so I'm sure you can figure out some pretty amazing things to do with these! I think the idea in that one is pretty obvious - use the cooler as a base for...
  11. Halloween Props
Hi all! Just got done with a new stone, I broke down and bought another sheet of 2" pink foam. This is the first out of the sheet and I've always wanted to make a stone with the "First a cough..." poem :D. The pattern at the top is made from a rubber door mat and the lettering is routered out...
  12. Halloween Props
This stone is constructed of 3 layers of 1" foam sandwiched together with spray adhesive and 2 1/2" screws. I've had an old rubber doormat hanging around with a great filigree pattern on it that I've used for the top. The name and epitaph were routed out with a dremel. The book was carved from a...

This last Friday I found a medical skeleton on Craigslist for $100, I got him down to $60. It is 5ft 6in. Then on Saturday I found 3 grave marker flower vases made by AEON at an antique store. They were each $18 but I got them for $20 for all three. Also at the sam antique store I found a...
