I have a head sculpt made in Plastilina clay. I'm trying to make a mold of the head with moulage, but the moulage doesn't cling to the clay so I'm getting lots of air pockets where I try to push it into, say, the nasal folds, and it just comes away with my finger. Have i made a wrong choice of...

The last time I made something out of paper mache was in the fourth grade, so I am beyond rusty. However, we love the look of props created with paper mache and we're going to increase the number of projects that use it going forward. But there in lies the tale. I'm the one who's going to be...

It's been a longtime goal of mine to make the singing busts for my Halloween display. I wanted to share how I did it, and make some recommendations for those who are interested in doing the same. First, I started the project with a budget in mind. I wanted to keep it under $500. Second, I...

Don't know if it will be so much a tutorial, but I've decided to revisit one of my old props and attack it with some lessons learned. Back in 2012 I created the original Trevor. It was meant to be a one-off, and sold after Halloween that year. I was unhappy with a couple little...

Hello, These are some props I've made recently. I've made a number of shrunken heads in the past, but these are my most recent works. I like how they came out. Two of them are made from polymer clay, and the one in the dome is made from papier-mache. I had a lot of fun decorating them.

I would like to start with a plastic skull, use *something* to build it up and change the appearance a bit, then corpse over it. My question is, what should the *something" be? Paper clay? sculpting clay? Monster clay? Please let me know your suggestions, including specifics like what brand...

We decided our big build for this year should be Punpkinhead. I've started ordering some items. The first is the mask seen below, and the second is the mannequin. I'm also ordering 20 pounds of epoxy clay as I suspect we'll be needing it. :) We're going to convert the mannequin's feet into the...

Let me know how you all think I should repair these guys - some kind of clay or caulk? Thanks!

I sculpted a set of crossbones over a pvc frame using crayola air-dry clay, but even after drying they feel a bit squishy and fragile. Does anyone have a recommendation of what I could use to harden / make them stronger? Looking for something that can make a more solid coat on top of the clay...

Thought I'd share a (Critters inspired) crite I'm working on (hope I posted in the right spot). It has 3 rows of individual teeth, stands roughly 20" (Skeletor for size), and is made of screening, paper mache, clay, resin, and covered in latex. I still need to add more hair, and I'm...

I'll be sculpting a full head latex mask pretty soon, and just bought some WED clay for the sculpt. Now there should be some sculptors out there that use WED clay for mask making and prosthetic sculpting; so what I would like to know is by how long can WED clay stay workable till the point of...

Was wanting to decorate some bottles I have here and thought I would try the Crayola air dry clay. Unfortunately, my designs seem to be cracking as they dry. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? Is there a better no-bake clay alternative?
