  1. Why I am anti-TRUNK or treat

    General Halloween
Lol! Aren't we all scared by the political landscape lately?
  2. Why I am anti-TRUNK or treat

    General Halloween
*Warning- long post. I refuse to get into a debate. If you think differently, it's fine- you are entitled to your opinion as I am mine, just don't try to change my mind.* I will not support candy-grubbing laziness by participating in a trunk-or-treat. Here's why... I remember growing up, my...
  3. Fog: fog chillers and ambient temperature.

    Halloween Props
How well does wetting the ground work? What if I used dry ice in the fog chiller to cool it even more?
  4. Fog: fog chillers and ambient temperature.

    Halloween Props
What's the coldest ambient air temperature you have been able to get fog to lay low with a fog chiller? They're projecting 48-49 degrees for Halloween this year where I live in Michigan. I wonder if its even worth setting up my chiller this year.

  6. Other: Large plastic Jar - What can I do with it.

    Halloween Props
These are great ideas! Since I don't really have a laboratory area in my haunt, I may end up using it with the haunted hedge shaker in it. That's not to say I can't get another one, so ill keep thinking about other ways to use it.
  7. Other: Large plastic Jar - What can I do with it.

    Halloween Props
Hey all. I've been racking my brain for weeks trying to figure out what to do with these jars. We use them where I work, and the plastic is somewhat thin, but I hate to throw them away, when I know there's something I could use it for (Halloween related of course). Any suggestions? for size...

new perfect storm user Just received my perfect storm in the mail from GrimReapers. Purchased on Amazon. I will test it tonight or tomorrow and post video. I plan on using 3 or 4 of the standard 100watt flood bulbs, as well as 2 xenon strobes. After this year's Halloween is over, I may...
  10. Mechanical: Cheap motors for FCG; where do you get them?

    Halloween Props
I have also heard of people using motors out of old microwaveable (the one that spins the turntable) but I haven't tried that one myself...
  11. Electronic/Software: Spirit Killer Pumpkin Sound Door Mat

    Halloween Props
Hey all, I was browsing Spirit's website and found this: http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/killer-pumpkin-door-mat/ I was considering the possibility of removing the small speaker and circuit board and using it as a mat switch for triggering other props (after I get rid of the pumpkin...
  12. Other: DIY coffin?

    Halloween Props
+1 for the scarefx coffin. I have one I made several years ago, and it is very realistic, and somewhat inexpensive to build. Best bang for the buck IMHO.

  14. Static: NEED HELP: Building "Old Sparky" Texas Style

    Halloween Props
I have pushed my electric chair prop to next year because of the same issue: I can't seem to find accurate dimensions or plans for "old sparky" anywhere. Maybe I should call in to Texas D.O.C.?
  15. Mechanical: How can you trigger a DVD player?

    Halloween Props
@Captpete: Would the picoboo jr do the trick, or does it need to be the full picoboo with sound? Couldn't someone just run the sound outputs from the dvd player through a separate amplifier or powered computer speakers?
  16. Static: Halloween Lamp Post: To Paint or Not to Paint; that is my question

    Halloween Props
I would go for bone color. You can get some ivory spray paint, and use white for highlights on the bones that stick out further. Then, before the spray paint is totally dry, hit some parts with sandpaper, and brown spray paint to dirty it up a bit. Sponge painting some dirt onto it will help...

  19. Mechanical: Gemmy One Eyed Drake Skeleton Pirate Question

    Halloween Props
I had a six foot gemmy Santa, and mine had a button on the base that you step on while pushing down on his shoulders, then pull up on his torso while holding the foot button down. Movement wasn't very fluid on him either...
