  2. Do you have any limits regarding taste and decency when creating your yard haunts?

    General Halloween
By "No Contact" I meant visitors will never be touched. If they want to get touchy-feely with our props we can't stop 'em. But it's all built to withstand that. Nothing store-bought but lights and fog machines.

Two rules at our place. No Gore. No Contact. Nobody gets touched.
  6. Unusual Handouts

    General Halloween
Years ago we used to hand out cheap books, toys, comics and DVD's. In a fiscally challenged place like Samoa they are truly appreciated. I heard of little kids sleeping with their new toys. But in Canada TOT's actually PREFER full sized candy bars to a horror DVD. Go figure...

  12. Attention Sci-Fi Buffs

    Off-Topic Stuff
I'm not much for TV but this time of year I always find myself binge watching. This weekend I came across "Travellers". A series following a group of time travellers from a post apocalyptic future on a mission to change history. Sounds cheesier than an Italian restaurant but it's very well done...

  16. Static: Aliens, Aliens, Aliens

    Halloween Props
Amazing. I hope visitors will be able to connect with the film franchise. It's been a long time...I recall leaving the theatre thinking the upcoming Star Trek movie could never touch what Ridley Scott had done. I was right. ALIEN was a generational film.
  17. Static: Paper Mache Artists, HELP!

    Halloween Props
This guy is 18" in diameter with a concrete shell about 3/8" thick. Weighs at least 10 lb. So you need a strong undercarriage. On drawback with a concrete shell; you cant get detail. So I use paper coffee filters and white carpenters glue to give texture to the skin. With practice you can give...

  19. Static: Paper Mache Artists, HELP!

    Halloween Props
I stopped using conventional paper mache when I learned that mice will destroy it during storage. Now I go with paper and white Carpenters Glue. Costly but rock hard. Sets up faster too. For something bullet-proof go to floor leveling compound and burlap as your medium. Heavy. But you can roll...
  20. Static: Davis Graveyard Cathedral

    Halloween Props
This Cathedral...this is a case of carrying things too far. I mean, if you have the time and resources to erect something on this grand a scale, good on you. But. IT 'S HALLOWEEN! Kids are scared to come up our driveway, and it's lame compared to this. But what an awesome piece of work!
