It's amazing all that you are doing for your pumpkins, Col. Kdestra, great score on the patio set...I'd have grabbed that up, too, in a heartbeat!!!

I haven't experienced anyone going 'big' per se, but as of last year I can safely say that we have noticed a significant increase in general decoration and participation. We definitely see more jacks on porches, more decorations in windows, and even a few yard props / tombstones and lights. There is also one young man that has been coming to examine our layout every year since we started in this location, and he is now old enough that he's begun building his own little yard haunt up the...

Wow... this is discouraging to read. :( I wish people would be inspired rather than get more lazy. That's crazy! Many people stop by to say they love the decorations, or alter their normal walking routine to pass by the house every day, but I wish some would get more into the spirit. UnOrthodOx - That's great that you've had some success inspiring others! One of the reason's I asked this was because I came across some videos about a neighborhood in Romeo, Michigan... Tillson St. Man I...

Sitting here listening to a particularly violent hailstorm in the dark of the morning. The sunflowers might be toast (they are generally tough, so maybe not). Most the tomatoes have a row cover on, though, and at least I had decided against trying to push the pumpkins out yet. That's an awesome wagon Kdestra. Who's pup? I can just see him riding down the street in the wagon LOL.

Our weather is, finally, warming up to outdoor planting temps!! Now that our lows are out of the danger zone...so far...and our highs are jumping up to 70's and 80's all of the sudden (why do we never have a nice, long Spring or Fall, anymore?? Just right up to 80's...sigh...), I went ahead and started planting my seedlings in ground, outside. Of course, no sooner do I do this and the weather says possible severe storms, tomorrow. Sigh, again. Here's to hoping everything doesn't get pummeled. ...

Yeah, I was prepared for a huge fail from the get go, but to have it down to it being eaten is hard to swallow. I'm not set up in any way to prevent such eating in the future either. I actually encourage the likely culprits of cats or skunk (more likely with the digging) to keep away other unwanted things anyway.

Define 'going big'. There's been a marked increase over the last 7 years. I don't think it's coincidental at all that my carving party started 8 years ago. But, I had a haunt for many years before that as well that didn't quite elicit the same response as getting the neighborhood involved with the party seems to have. No, no one 'goes big', as in cover a yard in a haunt, but they 'go small'. They actually decorate. Bats in trees, a couple props here or there, light projections,...

Hey all. Just curious, have any of your neighbors started decorating ďbigĒ after you started, or after you moved in? Iím sure some of you are lucky enough to live on the same block as other haunters, but Iím curious if anyone here has inspired another nearby to start their own excessive Halloween decorating? It hasnít happened here. Iím just asking because I wish another home on the block would go all out and decorate big. It would be inspiring. The nearest house near here that decorates pretty...

Lesson from the millet experiment. Millet is delicious. That is all. Something dug all of it up and ate it from the garden yesterday/last night, after my cats ate what they could reach indoors.

Don't know that I mentioned, but the seeds I bought this year were coated, so I didn't dare do the baggie method I normally do. I'd been getting nervous since it'd been a week, but we finally have some pumpkins. 3 of the Big Moose have sprung to life. I double checked one of the minis on one of the Early Giants, and they both had barely germinated, so will bee a bit behind. We also sewed a bunch of indian corn I got in a free pack with one of my orders and a bunch more sunflower...

I love the movement - the jaw and the head turning is really great! I didn't notice the actual coffin creeping open until a second view tho! :D Great looking setup - would love to see it with your other skelly like you're planning and all lit up.

VIDEO: https://youtu.be/fTJSfBQC-WI This a project I actually completed for Halloween 2017, but have been lax in finding the time to take some decent pics and shoot a video of it in action. I always loved the Grave-Digging Skeleton, but always wondered if I could re-engineer it in a new way and with a different motor. I figured that since the arms of the skeleton are already attached to the handle of the shovel, why not figure out some way to actually make the arms move the shovel back...

If you are wanting to float the candelabra like an FCG, it will work, just I would recommend using a very slow motor (3 or 4 RPM) for a subtle floating movement. And the crank for your motor will be very short, since the candelabra is not that wide. I would just experiment by mounting your motor and pulleys on the bottom of a flat board. Then try a short crank length and use that as a reference to judge what changes you need from there. In my mind, your idea would look pretty cool. Kind of...

Got the E-mail. thanks a lot! I know how slow Paypal is, so no worries on my end. Glad you got the dog promptly.
Looks like you sent $40? You didn't have to add extra, I'm happy to help out a fellow haunter.
But I appreciate it and I'll put it to good use on a Halloween prop.
