Ah! Anime I still don't understand. I feel kinda stupid about that. Loved loved loved Spirited Away. And the old Gatchaman cartoons back when they were cheesy Battle of the Planets episodes. But my knowledge doesn't go beyond that. Huge Marvel fan! I can do DC in a pinch. Love the steampunk sensibility.
I forgot you mentioned you had a sister. She's got a nice turn of a phrase. Think we'll see her on here someday?
I mostly do print design - brochures, posters, billboards, educational materials. I spent a lot of years working for a tax company (Any guesses?) as an inhouse designer because - y'know - taxes and creativity go hand-in-hand. Left that last year and still trying to find a new home.
But I do a bit of web stuff and I've done a lot of screen related ads and such. Video is likely my achilles' heel. Still lots to learn though.
I'm a big fan of the white gown version - that's iconic Leia for me! You guys will make an awesome pair - it oughtta make for some fun banter throughout the night.
Cool that you're carrying on a geeky tradition. My parents were in full adult-mode when I showed up and my father was all business. Mom was always creative and had a great sense of humour but I wouldn't call her geeky. So I think I'm probably a reaction against that.
Just grabbed some of my old Star Wars toys form my parents place this weekend. Not sure what I'll do with them. The Dagobah playset still has it's foamy mud bog!
So mostly sci-fi? Star Wars AND Star Trek? I've never been much of a Trek guy. Any other geeky pastimes?
