Not losing my mojo, just had a few awful months back to back and the combination cut out my free time and my creative spirit. I am hoping to spring back with a vigor next year. Fingers crossed for a wonderful 2018! Good luck with your hitchhiking ghosts.
Wow, seems you and I are both absent from prop making lately. Ugh! I'm hoping to get back in gear pretty soon. Hitchhiking ghosts!? Can't wait to see them. If they are anything like your Jack Skellington tombstone, I will be all ears and eyes...and of course...mouth.
What's up Will-I-Am??? I never hear from you any more....are you trying to keep your Halloween plans a secret from you bestest friend P5??? Oh, so not cool, to hide from the Pumpkin....come on Willie...you know better.
I get what you are saying about the pose 'n stay skellies. Sorry for all of your trouble with the lighter skeletons. Seems like you had a bunch of bad things happen. On Halloween night last year, my Ollie was propped against a fence and I asked my niece to watch him while I went inside to get the wire ties to secure him to the fence, and when I came outside, my niece was across the yard, laughing and talking and Ollie had gotten flipped over by a gust of wind and was broken in two pieces. Needless to say I lost my mind for a few minutes, but recovered because, after all, it was Halloween night. So I get what you are saying about them being light, and with all the Apoxie Sculpt Ollie had on him, he was very top heavy. I will continue to use the lighter skeletons just making sure that they are secured VERY well so that the wind can howl and the earth can quake, but my skellies will stay where I say they should stay. (I hope, anyway)
Hey I Am..... sounds like you have some things in mind.. Can I interject? I love Bucky's ......I have about seven of those guys..but they are HEAVY!!! Are you willing to deal with the 40 plus pound skellies versus the four pound ones? What's your problem with the lighter ones? Let's talk about it. What's going on in the Will-I-Am-Gourd?
Hey Will I Am, I will shoot you some pics as soon as I finish my Valentine door hanger. It seems you have a positive mindset moving forward, and I know things will work out for you all. Ahhhh...just remember you offered to answer any questions I have....so get prepared Mister.
I am not sure exactly what tombstones I want to make. I may mimic heresjohnny's tombstones from this year. They have a definite Haunted Mansion theme to them, plus some other fun ones I think. AND, I want to make the Jack tombstone that you made last year, so any tips you can give me would be much appreciated. I think I am going to be a thin, wood back to it, because I'd like to make it a "pop-up" so I need a backside I can screw into it. Also, I'd like to do a Zero prop to alongside Jack, but wondering how I could make him go up and down....or maybe just rock back and forth......a lot to decide. There are so many talented people on the forum that I am sure if I pose a question, someone will help me decide what to do. There is a great YouTube video of making a Zero prop, it's a "There Goes The Neighborhood" video and she has some good ideas. Seems like a haunter because she does everything on the cheap.
Great news about your folks, I'm glad to see that things are being resolved. I know it's difficult, but things happen for a reason, I believe that. You guys are definitely in my prayers though, and I am hoping for the best for you all. BTW, a coffin can be used to store other props in....just think of it as a really odd-shaped tote....ha, ha, ha. I am definitely going to need your input on my lighting...you NAILED that with your haunt this year and I love, love, love how it turned out. Sooooo cool!!!
I have watched the video over and over....I don't see the crate hiding your projector!!! This is my first year with projectors and the pumpkins were a big hit, but the ghost loop I had on the other side of the yard was bleh. I was really disappointed how that ended up. I projected it onto a scrim stretched over a big pvc frame that was painted black. Basically it ended up looking like a scrim with a pvc frame. I used cornstalks to try to hide it....it was not good. But only that small thing was a disappointment for me. Next year, I am focusing on a few more ghosts and lots and lots of new tombstones. I am going hard core over the winter months making tombstones and finishing up Ollie's coffin. I'm going to try to cut Ollie's speech down to one minute, two and a half minutes is just WAY TOO long. Robert and Pat tried to tell me.....but I am hard headed. How are things going for you and your folks?
