Foam? Not styrofoam, right? I'll have to look into that. Paper mache really creeps me out. Chicken wire isn't exactly easy on the hands either though, is it?

Feeling like I'm over my head usually means I'm learning something - I always forget that. Thanks for the reminder! You've got a great attitude though - really comes across in your posts.

Ok, so when do you get your own Halloween TV special? I'd watch!

Yup. Very beautiful videos - as beautiful as burping videos can be, anyway. :)

I dunno - you're crazy talented and yet you seem really down to earth so it's always fun to see your posts (even if they're about handling a pack of cranky neighbours). I'lll definitely keep an eye on your blog to see what big things you got coming down the pipe.

Your hands must be permanently caked in paper mache by now!

Hey Rania! Just came across your blog in the Alice thread. Hadn't seen that before (just your homepage in your profile.) Thanks for sharing that - been a fan of your posts here for a while and it's good to see the full scope of things.

But I'm mostly posting this comment because you and your son are kind of adorable together. :)

Thousands!!! Wow. Well then you are already a pro. How long have you been setting up your haunt and how did you get so many visitors?

You don't think going pro would ruin your love of Halloween? People often ask me if I'm going to start charging for my haunt. I always answer no. The cool thing about building a home haunt (for me at least) is the lack of responsibly. If a prop fails then I pout a little and move on. Or if something is not perfect then no big deal. I worry That the second you start charging someone then the expectations change. With money involved then you are obligated to perform. Right now I have no one I have to answer to. (Although it is a lot of money out of my pocket) .

    Lighting??? Well where to begin.

The outside is actually battery powered leds. Probably 50 or so individual battery packs and lights. It took a few years to build up that collection.

The inside is a different story. By the way if I'm being honest the photos you see of the interiors is not the actual lighting I used. The real lighting did not show up well on camera as it is fairly dark. The real interior lighting is a new digital led lighting system. It was my big purchase for the 2012 season. Anyway the digital lighting was great. I could fade each room in and out as the guests passed through. One item I discovered involved the commercial led lights. They did not perform very well. I had to build some of my own led lights.

Anyway long story short your answer is LED.

A couple other forum members gave me the heads up about the Pumpkinrots blog. I was thrilled. It makes all of the hard work worth it when I see a response like that.

I did make a tutorial album on how to make cemetery columns, but that is about it.

No I'm not on Youtube. I don't have the aspiring film career like you!

Actually I just jumped back onto the HF to have another look at your setup. I find it inspirational.

I just had a look at the haunted garden. The doll room is freaky. The garden is huge. You could lose someone in there.

Im trying to figure out how exactly to do it. I hope I can pull it off. Scary Hillbilly sounds awesome. I hope to do that one year. I AM in West Virginia after all. You gonna do a rocking chair?
    Hilda ·
Not that I'm stalking... On Pinterest, I am loving all your Alice pins. I' m dying to see what you have up your sleeve! hahaha I'm into research for a scary Hillbilly Halloween theme myself...

Rania!! I'm so sick of cute elves and candy canes so I freaked when I saw you posted your video on FB!! I watched the entire video TWICE the other day (instead of going out and helping hubby shovel snow LOL) It was like porn. Sincerely GORGEOUS. You are brilliant! I needed that Halloween fix!! Thank you!! When I grow up I want to haunt like you!! (OK... I'm old enough to be your mother... I meant I wish when my 'haunt' grows up it could be like yours!! LOL)
