Col. Fryght, I think you put as much work into your pumpkin plants as I do into my entire garden! Kdestra-- I love the rescue patio set! I expect Green Man to join you for tea. :)

Grunge it up first. Paint it gun metal gray or a like color. Cover the padded parts with dirty sheets. Agree that a mannequin of sorts would look cool. I'd have the thing in full recline position and a mad scientist actor next to it. Hell, use a live actor in place of the mannequin and let him and the doctor play off the crowd with some dialogue, etc...

Yeah, the costume enhancement is tempting, but I'm afraid the dog might make off with it ...so she could roll in it. (pew!) Love the garden helper, K.! Nice of you to re-home the wagon.

Here's the type of rhythm instrument, gourd and Job's tears shekere, that I hope to make sometime, though I'm not growing that shape of gourd, and I'll probably choose some more natural-looking cording. (haha-- like this, only not like this.) https://www.niceshopus.com/content?c=shekere&id=7 I have no idea about the supplier-- not recommending nor denigrating, just using their picture and giving them the credit for it. While I was looking for a decent shot, I stumbled across another...

Col- Yeah, yours is an entirely different routine for a different goal. There's no way on earth we observers could ever consider it lazy! I just try to do the best I can with the conditions I have. I know I'll never grow a respectable giant, but variety I can manage...generally. I'm not going to get cocky or anything! haha! I'm really hoping I can make a go of Wyatt's Wonder, even though I don't expect anything near what they give for possible maximum size. They say 110 to 120 days,...

Wow, Mayor-- 40 pumpkin plants! Holy cow! (I'm thinking I might find room for 15 or so!) I went ahead and put one single pumpkin seed-- a Wyatt's Wonder -- in the garden, covering it with a milk jug. If/when it comes up, I'll take the covering off pretty quickly so it firms up enough to face the wind and sun. If it doesn't germinate (the ground really hasn't warmed up yet. We've had lows in the mid to high 30s in the last few days.) that's no big deal. I'll try again in another week...

VIDEO: https://youtu.be/fTJSfBQC-WI This a project I actually completed for Halloween 2017, but have been lax in finding the time to take some decent pics and shoot a video of it in action. I always loved the Grave-Digging Skeleton, but always wondered if I could re-engineer it in a new way and with a different motor. I figured that since the arms of the skeleton are already attached to the handle of the shovel, why not figure out some way to actually make the arms move the shovel back...

If you are wanting to float the candelabra like an FCG, it will work, just I would recommend using a very slow motor (3 or 4 RPM) for a subtle floating movement. And the crank for your motor will be very short, since the candelabra is not that wide. I would just experiment by mounting your motor and pulleys on the bottom of a flat board. Then try a short crank length and use that as a reference to judge what changes you need from there. In my mind, your idea would look pretty cool. Kind of...

I put in several different varieties of sunflowers last year. I didn't notice whether they attracted different pollinators, but that would be interesting to watch for. Some of the big ones develop such heavy heads that they'd tip when the ground got saturated and it was windy. The root systems were just too small to hold them down, even though some of the stems felt almost like baseball bats. Since we have some beetle fans here---- I've only once seen an eyed elater myself. Funny...

That sounds about like my success rate with luffas! Even when I got plants to germinate, I'd wind up with all the same gender, or no flowers on the male plants while the female plants were blooming (or vice versa). On the extremely rare occasions when fruit would start to form, they would be killed by frost before they got mature enough to be fibrous. So when I finally got one single fruit to mature, I called it a win, and decided to wash my hands of them...so to speak. So, naturally,...

I bought this last week for $5. The woman said that the sound was broken but could probably be fixed. She agreed to ship it to me and packed it up in lots of bubble wrap and sent it. Shipping was a little over $11 and well worth it. Sound does work, but I haven't done much more than pull it out the box and flip on the switch for a few seconds. I also scored a 6 ft. witch for $25. It was in a small town about an hour and a half from me. I have an ex student who lives there so I PayPal 'd her...

This is my skip year but I'm doing an 80s themed party for 2020. Got a whole bunch of giveaway items for the kids and 80s decor items too. Thought I was buying a lot. One day someone bought 3 shopping carts full of costumes. Today a guy in a huge white van had at least 100 bags of party merchandise. Got to imagine that some of these people are reselling at flea markets or something. Sorry, don't know why this photo ended up upside down.

Okay, I have been in my own personal Halloween heaven these last couple weeks. There is a solitary Party City that is closing down near my house. They have been putting out their Halloween items at 70 to 90 percent off. Got a whole bunch of wall scene setters too! These photos are only half of what I've bought. Picked up a ton of costumes for my props too. I've been stopping in every couple days as they keep bringing more stuff out. I've spent around $250 but have picked up $1000 worth...

Stinkerbell those are awesome ideas. what do you attach the sides to? I would love to do something like this but don't have poles or anything to attach sides to. I just looked at your link and saw the canopies put together. Duh, I never thought of that either! Smacks my head. We have had so much rain the past few years, I really wish I could use my large screened porch in the back yard, but hubby is adamant about not having them in the back. He is afraid of lawsuits and I keep telling we...

It's amazing to see pumpkins in bloom already! They're still predicting some nights in the 30s for the upcoming week here. I got some cold-hardy vegetable seeds in the garden, but things won't be ready for sensitive stuff for a while. I don't now about the other varieties, but you should wind up swamped with Early Giants! They're quite productive! I got a dozen fully ripe pumpkins from two plants last year. There were a couple more that were still green at first frost, but they...

I didn't find my Wyatt's Wonder seeds yet, but I did find some for Blue Doll and New Moon. I didn't even know I had those! They're a few years old, and all I can figure is that I got them at an end-of-the-season closeout sale. Sometimes seeds will be offered at 10 for $1. UnOrthodOx-- Not that much room here, either, or maybe I should say, not that much enthusiasm on my part for pulling weeds! Last year I made a nice display, gave away a bunch of pumpkins, and still had a lot just go...

Welcome, EyeballsStudio, and best of luck with your new crop! Pumpkin growing can be addictive. Kdestra-- I agonized over those Patisson Strie MeLange myself. I just have too many squash seeds already, and decided to wait until next year, though. They do sound good, being useful as a summer or winter squash, and they'd be fantastic decorations. I'll be anxious to hear your opinions on them. I'm getting Very anxious to get the garden in, but we've been having rain every day and highs...

I'm a mod podge this year. For our party, I'm going with a classic monsters theme - loosely based on the Universal characters. I have a Frankenstein monster but not thee Frankenstein, Dracula's Pub, Mummy's Crypt, Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Hunchback, Invisible Man.... Outside, for the tots, I'm planning on a witch's theme for the porch (I gotta have a witch), skeletons, scarecrow, cemetery. And maybe a small Poe display inside. In fact, all my displays will be small, I'm trying to downsize but with so many themes - oh, the possibilities!
