My roommate was the same. She's Deaf of Deaf and so grew up using ASL. But, her Mom took her out of the deaf school and put her in the local public school because she's also gifted, so was bored. The local public school didn't offer ANY assistance, so she went all thru school with no interpreters or note-takers! I love the Deaf community. Once they realized I really wanted to learn, they were pretty accepting (for me being a "hearie!"). ~~~ How are you feeling? Better I hope!

LOL, yeah, I showed up at Gally knowing how to fingerspell my name... Tough couple of years! But, by the time I graduated, I was fluent enough to pass the RID ASL exam. (Thanks to a couple of cute football players!)
