Like this a lot. We're going to try for something similar. Going to use a Walgreen's skellie and corpse part of it, possibly replace the skull with a more realistic one, then cover it in a shroud of sorts. It will lay on top of the crypt like you've done. Hope to start construction of that by next month. I'll post some pics as we make a little more progress. We've had a "crew" for the past several years, and we typically average between 15-20 helpers to make things run smoothly. Our...

We've been working on props for our Druid Tomb theme haunt. I have 7 skull staffs in the works for some of our crew to carry, a few lanterns and soon we'll start on a crypt build which will be a focal point of one wall and a distraction for one of our main scares. My haunt partner (forum member lewlew) will be carving some foam Stonehenge-like obelisks and monoliths for the front display, as well as some interior catacombs. It should come together nicely. compared to last year, this build is...

Thanks! Yes, just water. The fur is still soft and pliable on the parrot. Full strength paint would make the fur too stiff.

Looking for a few nice hooded monk/druid robes for this year's haunt. Can be brown or black, must have hoods. The Halloween stores sell a lot of cheap ones so those might work but something a bit heavier/nicer would also be considered. Let me know if you have anything you'd part with, how much you want for it and maybe a pic. We're likely looking at getting 6-7 of them. Thanks!

Thanks :) I didn't use the latex on the second or third parrot I did. The latex ended up being like a straight jacket on the parrot. Limited movement on the parrot after he was coated with the latex. He looked good, but I didn't want to repeat that technique. Here are a few pics of one of the UV painted parrots I did.

I've done two other parrots since 2010, and used thinned down UV acrylic paints kinda dry brushed on. You could do the same with regular acrylic paints. The trick is not to use the paint too thick. You could also try airbrushing the paint onto the feathers which I did to get a black base coat on before painting him . Came out pretty nice. I'll try and find some pics.

Thanks for sharing everyone. Great pics! I recently picked up the Count prop for a song on Offerup, along with a bunch of other props. He's super cool! I really like the Scaretaker prop. I had Chuckles the Clown, but sold him to a friend after I painted him up in UV colors for my friends black light haunt.

That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know you used my technique. Do you mind if I share it on the Mr. Chicken's Prop Shop Facebook page?

When they announced that they would no longer allow third party pic sharing and that they were going to charge for use of their service, I deleted all of my pics and moved them to files on my computer, then closed out my account. F 'em! Now they're hurting so they're trying to woo back customers/users. I had brief thoughts about going back to them to share photos here and on other forums but i'm not paying for it, nor do I want their silly watermark. If they made it free again I'd consider it...

I have one of these that I purchased from Spider Hill Prop works. It handles up to 1" pvc and works very well. Makes a nice clean cut and no pvc "dust" from a hack saw. I had always used a hack saw and still do for large dia pipe but these are handy little tools to have if you do a lot of cutting.

    Hello Mr. C!
I am hoping to pick your brain... I just recently purchased a latex life sized skull mold with the hard plastic backup. My question is, what sorts of mediums can I pour(cement, plaster of paris, etc) and which, if any, require a mold release?
Thank you for your time & experience!
