Hi, the piece is from Dept 56, a façade called The Haunted Barn. I've tried finding it on their website using the product # but it comes up item not found, I think it's one of those special items only a few stores received. Emailed Dept 56 about it but got no response. Hope that helps.
44 Days or so to Halloween!!! ~ this year Ive moved to a new to me house and am having a Housewarming aka Pre Halloween party on the 20th of Oct , and theme is "Dia De Los Muertos" (Day of the Dead ~ DOTD). My friends want to see my house as it looks normally but also want to see some of my Halloween props and decor. So DOTD seemed the best way to showcase my house AS IS, but with festive (and lots of skeletons) for Halloween stuff too.
I will be inserting among the regular decor the wonderful scare props that I've collected (like new this yr fr Spirit H ~ automated books, that a spider jumps out of, a vase with wilting black roses when you step in front of it - thinking in the bathroom, when someone stands in front of mirror LOL)
My assortment of Skelys Ill festive up in party dresses and fiesta suits and so as not to ruin their skulls, Ill put DOTD masks on them ...place them around strategically like 'a deadmans party' .... and hang banners, make some sugar skulls for the tables . Im providing a taco buffet and friends are bringing likewise dishes and musician friends are to jam out on the back deck. Wonder if Im missing anything? Of course this is the plan LOL ~ will ck out here to see anyone else has done a Dia De Los Muertos theme party ....
Costume ~ Of course face painted, thinking hair pulled back with a rose (blk and red) headdress , which also will be incorporated into the dress. Not sure on the dress, been looking at costume shop sytles and think Ill embellish my own. So thats the real project here. Lots of friends doing the make up and costume for the party so this should be fun ~ and greatest part of it all , this is only the Housewarming party and I still have Halloween to be something else LOL
75 Days til Halloween ~ whoop whoop !!! Last year I did the Pirate theme ~ this year Ive been asked to design and decorate a friends H Party ... Monster Mash is the costume theme (come as a monster or monster movie character) and Haunted house and graveyard is going to be my design. Im thinking a "Silent Hill" twist on Disneys Haunted House. The walk thru starts w the entry thru the graveyard into parlour and into dungeon (thats where I can go wild w gooey walls etc) Any suggestions welcome
LOL ~ anyone stop cleaning house the first part of Oct ~ to help with that creepy look LOL ~ I was just gettin ready to clean and realized ..yah know ...it might be best to just bring in a lot of leaves as they'll be tracked in this Fri's party LOL I think I'll mop first tho ...just me to know its clean underneith LOL
First of all, your pirate pictures are fabulous. Great job!
Thanks. Glad you liked my "Duchess".
I think that this is one of my best costumes to date. I based it on a character from the play The Ugly Duchess by Janet Munsil. See the picture below. In the play her husband Paul Terry plays the Duchess.
It was such an unusual character and really creepy looking that I felt that it would be well worth dressing in drag to recreate this horror like character.
