Old farmhouse!?! That sounds perfect for you. I'm guessing you give up a few TOTers but probably PERFECT for parties!
Weather here has been really nice. Usually you can measure fall with a stop watch but I think we've had almost two weeks of it. A little grey and cool, but we had snow for 10 days by this time last year. So I'm happy.
As far as the sharpness - they really ain't all that sharp. My wife's paint job covered up a ton of sins. I usually buy the 1 inch blue foam (the blue stuff is pricey) and glue it to some 2 inch white foam (less pricey), which doesn't cut as easily and is much more messy. Before I glue 'em together I did troughs in the white stuff for 1 inch PVC pipe, which I use for standing 'em up - I slide 'em over rebar.
I always just use an exacto knife. I think even if you were using a dremel, you'd probably want to use an exacto knife first to cut the outlines, and then you likely wouldn't need to get so close to the cut lines with the dremel.
But yeah, if you were to look up close at these tombstones, you'd see they're pretty rough looking. If I can do it, anyone can.
Whew! I was getting worried there. I had the same problem with my day job - ended up quitting a while back so I'm taking a little break until after Halloween. Not getting anywhere near as much done as I hoped. We've got 6 tombstones and some new lighting in the works - nothing major. I'm also hoping to build something like this ghost by Heresjohnny. That might be a big learning curve for me.
Anyway, ya been missed! Hope to see some photos of what you got going on soon. Your display always rocks!
Hey MB! How have ya been? I'm not doing too well with my vow to draw more this year, am I? Work has been a real bear. (Not only want to gouge MY eyes out but also some of my co-workers.) You got your Halloween plans finalized for this year?
