I've never tried painting a carved pink foam prop with acylic paint so don't know what problem you are having there. I sprayed mine with exterior house latex paint. Used a Husky paint sprayer. If you don't want to spray perhaps use a paint primer first - like Glidden Gripper.
I would like to have a look at the link if you wouldn't mind sending it to me.
You know how you (well, me) get an idea and it starts out small then your mind (my mind) sees it to fruition? then my hands are slaves of my vision until the two come up with the closest thing to the little idea, born back in my mind, long, long ago...
I have not, surprisingly. But, I would suggest thinking of getting a cool alien mask and costume and putting that on a dummy. I did see Distortions Unlimited had a couple of good aliens this year at Transworld (I could send you a video link) but could be pricey - like around couple hundred maybe?
I did a fog chiller this year as well. A very simple design that I came across. It did the trick and the fog did lay close to the ground but only about a foot and a half out of the front of the chiller. I was a bit disappointed, will have to figure a way to push the fog out so it lays across the cemetery next year.
We live so close and we share such a special interest we really should meet up for a coffee sometime. We could pick each others Halloween brains. Never know, we may already know each other and don't even know it. This really is a pretty small city that we live in.
The weather was perfect wasn't it?? It was such a beautiful night. We were a little lower in numbers this year surprisingly but it was still a great night. I was on my way to your place. By the time we got to the little white house at the Victoria end of your street it was going on 9 and the 3-11 year old girls I was dragging around were wimpering about their feet!! AMATEURS!! lol
All my props at this point other than my FCG are store bought. I haven't attempted anything like what you have done, which is really amazing stuff. I absolutely LOVE your rooftop goblins too. I did check out your profile which takes us through your making one.
My next project I think is to try my hand at some handmade tombstones. I look at some of the ones the forum members make and they really are so beautiful. I would be so nervous to put them out though, I had 2 of my store-bought jobbies stolen last weekend.
I'm over on Crestview Ave. Right at the dead end that goes through to Herchimer. I'm definitely going to bring my monsters by your place on Halloween night. I was so excited when I saw your props, they really are so well done, just amazing! Another forum member led me to your profile, I'm just as excited to find a fellow Halloween-enthusiast so close to me.
Hey, you and I are VERY close neighbours!! I walked by your home and was raving your Halloween stuff the other day and have splashed your decorations all over a thread on here, I hope you don't mind. I just loved what you did so much I had to share.
