So ... the first picture is the very children's birthday party version ... I would like it to look a bit more like this picture I am posting ... I want the table in the centre of the deck ... will have benches ... maybe even barrels to sit on ... price and availability to consider ... I want the ropes coming down and I want to wrap the ship in backdrops ... as if looking out onto the ocean ...

Worst vampire....hmm..that's a very good question! Almost even better than who is the best? I'll have to think about that for while & see what I can come up with....worst vampire....wait...are we talking overall performance, looks, what?

Yep. I'll never grow ginormous award winning pumpkins, have a yard full of cool repainted blow molds, or make some of the super cool props others here make, but I definitely want to see ALL OF THAT here.

After having been to the further away At Home fairly near Halloween last year I can say that they do a little bit of everything. From glittered cutesy stuff to generic Fall to scary clowns & bloody stuff. They also do moving props though IIRC they had a TON of inflatables. It's worth at least one trip early before everything is gone.

Try local Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, local yard sales & thrift stores to avoid shipping. Etsy has them too & maybe you can work on the shipping costs with the seller, but sometimes they're cheaper sometimes not. Some big stores do sell them you just have to check closer to the date. And there's always Amazon Prime. You can find plenty of blow molds sellers on Amazon. If you hit the right one &/or Amazon fulfills it & you've got Prime you get zero shipping.

That must be GR date for the Halloween Haven stuff or pretty near the release of it all. Now that I have 2 At Home stores to check (one fairly close too) I'm sure they'll have Halloween out in 3...2...1....

Not sure how I missed this but here it is! I like the look of it but it just makes me miss Raoul Julia even more. Yes, John Astin was first & best & great but when it comes to the movies I feel like Raoul nailed it as did Angelica Houston. Not sure if I like Charlize Theron's voice as Morticia in this but that won't stop me from seeing it, especially since it's being released for Halloween.

Those Monster Mash pieces remind me of the Groovy Ghoulies. If you're "of a certain age" you will remember them from Saturday morning cartoons:

I love all these set ups but I'm far too lazy for such things, I generally plant my all my seeds in whatever I can pull outta the recycling bin!:D I'm also not growing giants or stuff for competition so I feel like I can use recycling for my stuff. So far so good. Yogurt cups work well for me as do salad containers, cut up milk jugs, basically anything that's not metal. I also have some actual leftover planting things from buying past years garden stuff & annuals. I keep the flats they...

I've done photo scavenger hunt type of games before. Especially easy if all your guests tend to have mobiles with decent cameras. :) For my photo scavenger hunt, I did 13 thirteens. I had either the number "13" or a group of thirteen objects. The first one was in the game instruction sign itself "the first one is free - this sign is one of 13! Take a photo and good hunting!" There were 13 spiders crawing on the kitchen wall. I had a entryway garland that contained 13 bats woven into the...

I have decided that I will do a Dinner Party for Halloween 2019 ... Pirates and Sea Witches ... and this will be held on a Pirate Ship where Pirates and Sea Witches will attend a sit down dinner. I have had a bit of time on my hands and have been scouring Pinterest and HF to find some type of pirate ship that I could build that we would be able to have the dinner on the deck ... and this pirate ship would be in my house ... So ... I have found such pirate ship ... and I think this set up...

It was last years model with bluetooth & it was on sale for $99 (+shipping), that's all I can remember right now. I guess they were trying to get rid of stock before putting the "new & improved 2019" versions of stuff up on the site. I saw bluetooth & went for it. I'm at work right now & the box is still sitting on my LR floor so I'll let ya know which model it was later.

I've noticed that if I'm not logged in nothing is new, especially at work. I tend to not log in, just check out what's new, but for the last week or so I'd visit during working hours without logging in & not a single thread had updated or moved. I log in & everything is OK. Not sure what happens at home because I stay logged in there.

I got one of last years projectors with bluetooth a few weeks ago & was going to post about it here but by the time I bought mine, came here, started to create a thread about it, went back to get the link to it all to put it into the thread THEY WERE GONE!! So yes, we should be checking each week before they all go back up in price.

Maybe burlap on top tied with twine? I agree with JCO, dirty it up a bit. Maybe singe the edges of the paper if you can. Just do something to make the edges less even.

Ugh, finally got myself signed in to make a Wishlist & found out the Teddy & Duck are "limited" ones so you gotta show up when the doors open to get it or just buy it online afterwards like I did last year with the Zombie Merle from Walking Dead. I figured that even though I paid a little more on Ebay for it, maybe $5-$10 more, it would still be worth it since no Hallmark in the area had them or would hold one & if you wait too long the price would go through the roof like the Daryl from...

Hey Kristi! Welcome to the forums! Thanks for the friend request.

Super impressed with your art - paper mache always turns into a bit of a horror show whenever I try it. And not the good kind. You got some skills.

Look forward to seeing more of your posts.

Halloween: A Time When We Celebrate Going Into the Deepest, Darkest Part of Our Souls

by Kristi V on 06-13-2017 at 01:43 PM
Halloween inspires us to look in the deepest, darkest caves of our existence.

It challenges us to question our own realities.

It is a time we choose to expose our true selves in the form of a mask.

It is a time when we choose to look in the darkness and at the other side of the mirror.

It is a time when we are fascinated with our own basic needs for survival.

It is a time when we are willing to have our minds challenged to
