I switched my planted aquarium from a full spectrum fluorescent bulb on a simple on/off timer to a 24/7 led bulb (simulates sunrise/sunset) about 6 months ago and it's done WONDERS to the plants in there. Relatively cheap (70ish), I don't see why it wouldnt translate to 'dry' plants? But halloween budget is mostly tied up in other projects for this year. If this Millet takes off and I'm having to grow indoors for 8 weeks every year, it will definitely be on the list.

The cotton candy room could be a "squeeze room" - get batting (used to make quilts) from a fabric store, make a basic shape (I'd suggest using a oval/egg shape out of cardboard and then skin them with the batting) add pool noodles for the handles, spraypaint pink, then hang up from the ceiling. Could even embed a few skulls or even a spare skelly arm hanging out. Would look like cotton candy coocoons similar to Killer Klowns From Outer Space. Best to stagger them down a narrow corridor... ...

Not the same, but I believe I've seen a video for a xenomorph costume that showed the working bits... let me go dig. Edit: Not the one I was looking for, but this gives a good idea how these things are made:

By "No Contact" I meant visitors will never be touched. If they want to get touchy-feely with our props we can't stop 'em. But it's all built to withstand that. Nothing store-bought but lights and fog machines.

To be clear, I wasn't suggesting 3d printing as the solution in this case....If someone doesn't already have a 3d printer to begin with, it's not practical at all but since someone suggested maybe it's possible with 3d printing, I just wanted to affirm it could be done and also why I said "I just wanted to show how it is possible"....As for strength, people are making working gears all the time....The problem with using a harder substance like nylon to make a new gear is the rest of the working...

Depends on your surface types, obviously, but I've found paint one of the easiest things to clean. Just let dry and peel off.

I did a quick sketch in Fusion 360 of the main parts to show how it can be done for 3d printing....Here's a quick 20 second youtube video to show the main components.... You can make the hole any shape you want...The dimensions aren't right and I only made 1 tooth but I just wanted to show how it is possible....If 3d printing I would separate the disk with teeth and the spacer below it so you wouldn't have to use any support when printing and just...

I've been to the Mad Monster Party in Charlotte, NC a few times. A lot of fun, but I've been out of town the last couple of times it came. I saw the advertisement for this years, and it looked like they've REALLY cut down on the number of celebrities attending. Kind of a shame. But, have a good time if you go!

The video looks terrific! You're right, the random movement is a lot creepier than a constant motion would be. I like it !

Great ideas, Spookie! It all sounds good on paper. I hope it all comes together the way you want it to. Just wondered----why does it need to be transportable?

I love ahs I did hear evan is sitting out of this one. My fav is the first season followed by coven and asylum my least favorite was freak show and hotel. I did love the first part of roanoke but the second half sucked. cult I thought was done very well it hit all of the sore subjects and really put in perspective of what people of capable of when push comes to shove. I loved the last season. And ryan murphy is suppose to be in with netflix to do a witchy type series on there.

I'd strongly suggest looking at Mr Chickens "mache" over the wood glue version.

Shroud tomb. Love it, it's on my to-do list as well. IIRC Davis Graveyard has (had?) a tutorial on one, or at least some pics of the process. They did it around 2012, same time as my first Transi. I'd use the thinnest cloth you can to save as much detail as possible on the form underneath. Might even be able to get away with just cheese cloth and dryloc.

Thanks! Yes, just water. The fur is still soft and pliable on the parrot. Full strength paint would make the fur too stiff.

Thanks :) I didn't use the latex on the second or third parrot I did. The latex ended up being like a straight jacket on the parrot. Limited movement on the parrot after he was coated with the latex. He looked good, but I didn't want to repeat that technique. Here are a few pics of one of the UV painted parrots I did.
