Jaurhead replied to a thread Electronic/Software: Creating a cheap 5.1 surround sound system in Halloween Props
Getting the file to "travel" from channel to channel is not something I've been able to do successfully in any audio editing software. I'm sure I'm doing it wrong, but all I've ever been able to come up with is stereo panning from left to right, and that was with Sony Vegas Pro a few years ago. JW is right, getting it to play back in surround is another hurdle that is usually only doable with an AVR (audio/video receiver). I have a 7.2.4 home theater system at home, but I still wouldn't be...

Thank you so much, chubstuff! That really means the world to me. It is great that I was sorta forced to build this...don't think I would want to build another one anytime soon, though :o That's what I'm shootin' for! Thanks! Thank you tremendously! Here's a little update for ya ~ Going back to post 13 where I started to play with making teeth, I ended up throwing most of those away, mostly because I was a fool in thinking that the shape of that upper jaw would stay intact once I...

I'm reminded of a couple of scenes from Knotts Scary Farm's maze "Tooth Fairy." There were some kid mannequins that had their jaws ripped out with dentists' lights shining on them. It was incredibly unsettling...so strap a mannequin to it! Or do like JCO recommended...though not as a public exhibition ;)

Decided to install the eyes last night! Started by gluing each eye to a couple of pieces of thinner cardboard that would act as "wings" to fill in the empty sockets on the head. I reinforced the back with more cardboard, being careful not to let any obstruct the rear of the eye since it would be backlit. 2 small flat-top 12v LED's shine from behind the eye to illuminate it. I played with tons of different colors, but settled on red and yellow because it seemed the most intimidating....

This is AMAZING! When I was little, I saw an ad in a catalog for a miniature The Munsters house. I begged my mom for it, but she wouldn't budge...probably because she knew a 6 year old wouldn't properly appreciate such a thing, and also because she figured I didn't know who the Munsters even were - I just liked the look of it! I've always wanted to put together my own mini haunted house, but never had the time or patience. But when Is see something as spectacularly finished as this, I...

Sorry I've been so bad about updating this. Truthfully, progress has been sort of...boring. Just lots and lots and lots of applying shop towels with watered-down wood glue. I bought the Elmer's wood glue gallon on Amazon since it was cheap. Also had a bucket handy so I could pour about a 1/4 gallon of glue and barely even a cup full of water to loosen it up a bit. Wearing gloves, I would smear the glue along one of the inner walls of the bucket to create a bed of paste for the shop towel to...

I have personally purchased from Outdoor Tech and have really loved their Big Turtle Shell speaker for casual music listening while working indoors and out. They are super rugged and waterproof, which is nice, but they come at a higher price tag. They can only pair up to 15ft apart, though. https://www.outdoortechnology.com/collections/speakers/products/turtle-shell-two-pack?variant=35123828174 A quick search on Amazon returned these less expensive ones. They are water-resistant and can...

Jaurhead replied to a thread Fog: Fog Distribution in Yard in Halloween Props
This is a fun video that goes through Hollywood Haunter's fog distribution from a few years ago. It's basically what JW mentioned, with smaller PVC coming off of a larger 4" flexible tubing.

That is BEYOND creepy!! Would be neat to have some kind of dim LED up-lighting on the face to further accentuate the prop, and then run everything off of a 9V battery.

Jaurhead replied to a thread Electronic/Software: Inexpensive MP3 Player! in Halloween Props
David answered this question pretty well! I am planning on using this 10 port USB charger to power the players I'll have going. David again is correct, HOWEVER, it's only a 3W amp, so you're not going to get much volume out of it with your average passive speaker (like the ones you often find in props or in home theater speaker systems). Likely enough output for a small prop, but not enough volume to carry the soundtrack from a room. EDIT: I stand corrected! This amp can really drive....
