I make sure mine is up and ready for the lights to be on by October 1. I have some big stuff to put up by myself and a lot needs fixing once it's in place so I start putting things in place September 1. If I have a new build, a crypt or animated coffin I build it way early and put it in place to try it out.
There's always something to fix.
You need an inverter.
something like https://www.amazon.com/Inverter-Converts-Continuous-Grounded-Protection/dp/B00W8JCX56
The above is an example not a recommendation. I would never spend that kind of money on an inverter unless it was for my whole house.
I didn't spend any time fine tuning. I just did the TRIG and it works okay with all the different tracks I put through it. I have a lot of people come by to see what I'm adding this year and I just wanted to show it off. I'll do the fine tuning when I build the full prop for it.
I use a MP3 USB Flash Drive Micro SD TF Card Player to play the Christmas songs, POTC ride Baker Parrot and the Enchanted TIKI Room album (1967).
You can get the whole ride, including parrot, here You just have to edit it with Audacity.
Just got my first Squawker. It seems to work okay but goes to sleep pretty quick. That might be because the batteries are low. I'm thinking now that I should get J-Mans board so I can do a quick build on the first one.
I've made 5 modules using these, a teensy, senor and 120V relay. I use a teensy to turn on the power to the mp3 and relay by a motion senor. I use a an mplifier to improve the sound.
This mp3 goes in the a VU level detector to the teensy that drives the servo for the jaw.
I don't like gore...it's too meah ... usually with little story value. I want to entertain the young ones not scare them. That's the reason I stick with Disney themes. I do have some games so there's a bit of interaction with the crowd.
Putting up a Halloween fence this year too. I had over 300 TOTers and it killed my lawn with a few things being accidentally kicked and damaged.
Is it too tacky (not in good taste and decency) to do a fundraiser on facebook? I really have a lot of...
That board looks like a nice board. I'll keep it in mind while I try it on my own. I'll probably use a Teensy with a power regulator cause I like to try things on my own. I'm sure I'll run out of time and buy a board. So thanks for showing me.
I would really like to put a parrot in my POTC display. I found these used Squawkers McCaw and they look pretty good. Has anybody tried them or have you found something better?
2 Pose and Stay Skeletons from Amazon. $100 Not a bad price for Amazon.
Looking to buy a Hasbro FurReal Friends Talking Parrot Squawkers McCaw and use it for my POTC display.
My skeletons break all the time. I cut a 2" piece of PVC tubing in half so that I have 2 C cuts. I pre-drill 4 drywall screws into each then place them on the break. Then screw the PVC to the spine. I use my skeletons as pirates and can cover the patch with clothes. This has worked great so far.
