I live about 20 minutes from there! It's super awesome. There's actually houses here & there all thru Romeo that are done over the top. I make a point of going every year during the day so I can check out all the details. The local high school football team helps out during ToT, keeping an eye on things & helping with lost kids, etc because insane amounts of people go there. I looked at a house that was for sale a couple years ago - most of the houses on Tillson are cool old Victorian...

Awesome work! Your tutorials are always very helpful because you show pictures and descriptions on all the components. I've always wanted to make one of these but it doesn't fit in with my pirate theme. Any ideas on how this could be integrated into a pirate themed haunt? Maybe a pirate that's been trapped inside a crate?

VIDEO: This a project I actually completed for Halloween 2017, but have been lax in finding the time to take some decent pics and shoot a video of it in action. I always loved the Grave-Digging Skeleton, but always wondered if I could re-engineer it in a new way and with a different motor. I figured that since the arms of the skeleton are already attached to the handle of the shovel, why not figure out some way to actually make the arms move the shovel back...

If you are wanting to float the candelabra like an FCG, it will work, just I would recommend using a very slow motor (3 or 4 RPM) for a subtle floating movement. And the crank for your motor will be very short, since the candelabra is not that wide. I would just experiment by mounting your motor and pulleys on the bottom of a flat board. Then try a short crank length and use that as a reference to judge what changes you need from there. In my mind, your idea would look pretty cool. Kind of...

so sorry for your loss. the positive is that lives can't be replaced but things can--as much as it hurts to lose things that are valuable to you, just be thankful that the truly valuable things are still safe. :)

I've built many versions of an Animated Ouija board over the last ten years or so and they are not really that hard to build. Here's a link to a tutorial I made many years ago on how to build one. I used to sell these boards on E-bay, so I'm guessing between all those I sold and the ones I made for friends I have probably built 50 to 60 of them. Still have a few...

He's talking about these: I used one for a prop once, but I manually triggered it off and on with a remote control. Not the easiest way to do it, I'm sure.

notjustaphaze started a thread Lighting: candle help and ideas in Halloween Props
I recently had a conversation with a friend that works at a custom lighting company. Some of her lamps have plastic candles. She has been throwing away the extra ones. She just gave me my first batch of the leftover candles. They already have factory candle wax drips on them. They also come with a plastic sleeve to go on the inside to cover up any wiring. My only problem is that they are all only 4 inches tall and 1 inch wide so I will have to wire them. Give me some ideas how to use these. And...

Awesome work J-Man! Paint job looks great. Random movement looks a lot more realistic than continuous rotating motion like you mentioned. Might have to look into the on/off timer module for my wiper motor.

i have a love/hate relationship with AHS. i haven't seen every season but i've watched several with my wife, and i usually enjoy them while we're watching (some more than others) but when i look back at it after awhile, most of them i'm not sure why i liked them. i suppose that's a mark of a good storyteller, to be able to keep you interested in the moment regardless of how you feel about it long-term.

oh my lord yes. we've stressed for years to do all the cutesy halloweeen-related food, and nobody cares one little bit. they want stuff to eat and drink and they don't care if there's a cheese ball looks like a brain, or if the regular old red punch is called witch's brew or whatever. even the people who bring food or drink as part of the contest don't really go into any halloween theme, mostly. that doesn't mean it can't be fun to do some of that stuff, just that it's not worth stressing...

by halloween71 on 03-03-2010 at 11:37 AM
The weather is still cold and yucky here.I have managed to make some progress on some props.I have cut some 3 inch tombstones to replace the glued ones-foam filled 3 zombie heads one is ready for clothes-latexed a hand.I have bought 3 angels to go on tombstones and ordered 2 more sets of flicker strands for more flicker candles. Now I just need some warm weather.

by halloween71 on 01-13-2010 at 03:01 PM
