I used to watch him on PBS in the 80s, long before it was a cool thing to do & just found him fascinating with his "happy little trees" & that huge Afro. I couldn't get over how he could create an entire landscape painting in 30 minutes real time (more or less). Oddly enough he was in the military & was the guy that had to be mean to the recruits & yelled at you all the time, a Sergeant in..wait....the Air Force. He painted in his off time & said when he got out of the service he wouldn't...

Ours is the guy across the street, one house over. These people obviously used to or somehow imagine that they live way out in the country and conduct themselves as such. Dude parks his loud *** truck in the front yard across their sidewalk because the big driveway they have is reserved for cornhole and the multitude of appliances and other junk he accumulates hoping to strike it rich if the price of scrap metal ever comes up. He drives up his next door neighbors driveway, then cuts across...

Grunge it up first. Paint it gun metal gray or a like color. Cover the padded parts with dirty sheets. Agree that a mannequin of sorts would look cool. I'd have the thing in full recline position and a mad scientist actor next to it. Hell, use a live actor in place of the mannequin and let him and the doctor play off the crowd with some dialogue, etc...

Yep. Slower cranking motor that raises the lid a bit more to reveal treasure inside. Position a skeleton behind the chest with his hands on the lid. so when the lid opens and closes the skelly will look like he is doing it. I envision a pirate skeleton who is trying to get the chest open to steal some booty!

I don't want anyone to think I'm nitpicking or anything. You make your props however you want them to look. I'm a bit of a weirdo who thinks way too much into things to the point that it get a bit ridiculous sometimes. Who really thinks "now if I were a skeleton stirring a cauldron, how would I move my head" besides me? The kids really don't care and won't notice how it moves, only that it does and that's what matters.

Yeah, the costume enhancement is tempting, but I'm afraid the dog might make off with it ...so she could roll in it. (pew!) Love the garden helper, K.! Nice of you to re-home the wagon.

I have a question for you guys that use this type of head movement rig. Why are they almost always made so that the head turns when it goes down and straightens when it's up? If I were stirring a cauldron and leaned over to look into it I wouldn't turn my head away. Just seems to me (being picky) that the animation would look better reversed with the head looking down into the cauldron when it's down then turn to look at visitors when it's up. Just an observation and again, just me being picky...

I found a small crate at work and decided to take a whack at the classic Monster In A Box prop. My version is made to look like an old box that might have been around for many, many years. I used a green light instead of the traditional red just to be different. The monster is an old dollar store vampire mask I did a little reshaping and repainting to so that it looked a bit more creepy and a bit less human. I used a little Bluetooth speaker I also found for free to make an ambient soundtrack...

Here's the type of rhythm instrument, gourd and Job's tears shekere, that I hope to make sometime, though I'm not growing that shape of gourd, and I'll probably choose some more natural-looking cording. (haha-- like this, only not like this.) https://www.niceshopus.com/content?c=shekere&id=7 I have no idea about the supplier-- not recommending nor denigrating, just using their picture and giving them the credit for it. While I was looking for a decent shot, I stumbled across another...

Col- Yeah, yours is an entirely different routine for a different goal. There's no way on earth we observers could ever consider it lazy! I just try to do the best I can with the conditions I have. I know I'll never grow a respectable giant, but variety I can manage...generally. I'm not going to get cocky or anything! haha! I'm really hoping I can make a go of Wyatt's Wonder, even though I don't expect anything near what they give for possible maximum size. They say 110 to 120 days,...

Wow, Mayor-- 40 pumpkin plants! Holy cow! (I'm thinking I might find room for 15 or so!) I went ahead and put one single pumpkin seed-- a Wyatt's Wonder -- in the garden, covering it with a milk jug. If/when it comes up, I'll take the covering off pretty quickly so it firms up enough to face the wind and sun. If it doesn't germinate (the ground really hasn't warmed up yet. We've had lows in the mid to high 30s in the last few days.) that's no big deal. I'll try again in another week...

Closer to Halloween you might find seasonal Ziploc type bags too. Clear on one side, Halloween stuff on the other but clear. OT will also have sales all year & closer to the big day they will have more to choose from. I generally get all my bags from them, from larger ones to 3" paper sacks with googly eyes.

I put in several different varieties of sunflowers last year. I didn't notice whether they attracted different pollinators, but that would be interesting to watch for. Some of the big ones develop such heavy heads that they'd tip when the ground got saturated and it was windy. The root systems were just too small to hold them down, even though some of the stems felt almost like baseball bats. Since we have some beetle fans here---- I've only once seen an eyed elater myself. Funny...

That sounds about like my success rate with luffas! Even when I got plants to germinate, I'd wind up with all the same gender, or no flowers on the male plants while the female plants were blooming (or vice versa). On the extremely rare occasions when fruit would start to form, they would be killed by frost before they got mature enough to be fibrous. So when I finally got one single fruit to mature, I called it a win, and decided to wash my hands of them...so to speak. So, naturally,...

I bought this last week for $5. The woman said that the sound was broken but could probably be fixed. She agreed to ship it to me and packed it up in lots of bubble wrap and sent it. Shipping was a little over $11 and well worth it. Sound does work, but I haven't done much more than pull it out the box and flip on the switch for a few seconds. I also scored a 6 ft. witch for $25. It was in a small town about an hour and a half from me. I have an ex student who lives there so I PayPal 'd her...

Stinkerbell those are awesome ideas. what do you attach the sides to? I would love to do something like this but don't have poles or anything to attach sides to. I just looked at your link and saw the canopies put together. Duh, I never thought of that either! Smacks my head. We have had so much rain the past few years, I really wish I could use my large screened porch in the back yard, but hubby is adamant about not having them in the back. He is afraid of lawsuits and I keep telling we...

Sure, no problem! It's interesting how the doll found its way from North Carolina to your location.

I found the name on that doll you posted in findagrave.com:

    findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Hanline&GSbyrel=in&GSdyrel=in& GSob=n&GRid=39635965&

(I'm not sure why, but the symbol to post links isn't showing up for me so I don't know if this will display correctly)

Although the death date is one year off, the month/day date is the same so it's likely her. Looks like she was from North Carolina.
