Hey there! I stopped by to check in on you and I see a message for me left below! Thank you!
Did you get to see the World Market skellies yet? I was thinking of a girl and boy ToT in my front yard. Nothing too fancy. LOL I ordered a bunch of small stuff from them, and everything is being delivered individually. That must cost them a lot to do. I got the dinosaur skeleton. Did you see that yet? Fun for an oddities shelf. I keep getting sidetracked and buying cool things for my laboratory... but that is NEXT year's theme. I need to focus. So totally out of time.
Thank you for the compliment on the BellHop. I had my heart set on the zombie from GR, but this guy is growing on me now. I made a complete body for one of the GR groundbreaker zombies and it is HILARIOUS. He sits on the couch like a snoozing old man (guest at the 'hotel') and when someone sits next to him... he turns his head toward the person who sat and begins to moan. I can't stop laughing at it.
I am so overwhelmed getting things set up it's not funny. Totally behind on the inside. I have most of the outside done and got it lit up tonight, so I've been out answering questions and talking to people all evening. That is fun. Inside is a disaster. Hope I can pull it off.
well hello to my favorite hotel proprietor!! Hahahaha. I love, love, love your bellhop. He's is crazy good! You were so lucky to come across that band uniform...I am totally jealous. I agree that him being mute will be perfectly fine given your other audibles around him. I can't wait to see your pics from this year.
So if I can be so nosy - what has you looking for the shorter skeleton? My idea was to have a skeleton family at my carnival this year. I have the perfect little white "fancy" dress for the smaller skeleton to make her the daughter holding a balloon and wanted either a mother or father to be holding her hand. GOS told me it was World Market who had the 48" skelie that I'm looking for and there is one right up the street so hopefully I can get by there tomorrow. So what's next on your list?
What a coincidence! I too need two shorter skellies for a theme I am doing. If you have any luck finding them. Please give me a holler!!
Oh and I finally settled on a bellboy. I just posted in Dawnski's haunted hotel thread. I hacked apart a static creepy zombie old man. I think it works. Still wish I had found that GR zombie from last year. Ahhh well, you snooze you lose. I decided on a static zombie because next to him will be the animated haunted suitcase and I also ordered that new creepy grandma prop from Spirit (very Bates Motel if you ask me). So that will be a lot of yakkity yak already, so the zombie is fine being mute.
LOVE the circus tent cups you bought. I'm obsessed with them. Must find one! I've been doing a "Psycho Circus / CarnEvil" theme since 2012 (had a couple of hiccups along the way) and just found out a new grandbaby is being born the last week of October via c-section. She'll make it in time for her first Halloween. Perfect timing!
Oh, I know exactly what you mean about most of other zombies being too gross. I do like the thought of him being a high class zombie - maybe he was from an affluent family when he was among the living..hahahahaha
I think you have a great plan since you will have that awesome animated suitcase in your display. I really wish they had offered that suitcase last year so I could have had it stacked with the other luggage at the front desk. Please, please take lots of pictures of your display this year so I can live vicariously through your hotel
I am laughing!! I've heard of neighbors asking to borrow a cup of sugar... but 'May I borrow your zombie please?'
I've looked everywhere. All the others are just too... gross. I wanted a sort of high class zombie. LOL You know what I mean.
I would build one using one of the GR semi-zombies, but they all make the same sound and I already have Henry and Larry in the room. That chorus of the three of them is just too hard to take. Since I have the Cracker Barrel animated suitcase right there... I am just going to use a static one in the outfit. The suitcase will give the 'life' to the scene.
By way of a response to your question about the GR headless boy... I have one and It is true. The fabric is... not really fabric. I don't know what it is called. It's like the linty soft lining I have seen inside costumes. I bought one, and I am hacking it, but it is really bad. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. LOL I'm going to make the best of it. I hope the light in the neck holds up a bit. (Now that is just my own humble opinion.)
Excited to follow your progess again this year. Last year was so much fun joining in your Haunted Hotel thread. I am sorry that thread will not be active still. You had so many wonderful ideas for that theme.
