Just saw that on the WaPo site. Here I have zip. Nothing. The sun has come out. That line broke up before it got to me. So I'm now off to water things.

That's cute! I hope they get some more Halloween themed ones & not just horror movie ones but I guess there's more money to be made in branded Pops.

Those are definitely.....some sort of squash type plant which could possibly maybe maybe not but probably are pumpkins!!:D My best guess is that they ARE from those critter seeds so let them go a while & see what happens.

Aw, bummer it isn't there anymore. I follow so many Halloween/Samhain/Autumn tumblrs, and I'd have added another. Loved the article, "Old Movies Aren't Scary Anymore." As a classic film horror aficionado (horror movies from the days of the studio system), I hope people find the article and learn a little. I have an active, year round Halloween/Samhain/Autumn blog here: https://october-blood.tumblr.com/ And here on the site's blogs, my Vintage Halloween blog. Not updated in ages...

Thanks for all of the positive comments! I appreciate all of them. chubstuff - yes, you said a mouthful. Although I have come up with many original props over the years, most of the animated props I've built were originally conceived by another haunter. It wasn't until 2002 when I was first on the internet that I realized "Hey, I could actually build my own Halloween props". And if I built if myself, I know exactly how to repair it if it breaks. We all inspire each other and I've never...

Looks kind of like the swaying zombie prop mechanism. One of our own forum members, Diabolik, runs Spider Hill Props, and he sells a mechanism that might work for you. Or you can build your own. http://www.spiderhillpropworks.com/Animated-Swaying-Zombie-Complete-Kit_p_24.html

I haven't seen them in a while, but if you could attach a vibrating motor to the "pole" holding the bell, when triggered it would shake the bell violently enough to ring like crazy. That would also free you from having to use string. You can make your own vibrating motor by attaching a half circle of wood/metal to the shaft of a fast motor. Probably at least 50 to 60 RPM. Even this one might do:...

Great looking prop! I need to totally re-do my cauldron creep. Looking at your video, I think you would get more arm movement/motion if your stirring stick was straight instead of being curved. But, maybe you designed it that way. As far as the spine, I wonder if you could make or extend the current spine, to the hip, with something flexible, like a piece of rubber or plastic of some sort. Then paint it to match the spine color. It would move with your motor and still give the illusion of a...

I remember seeing this craft project a few years ago and thinking it was really cool looking. Yours turned out so lovely! I'd want to make several more so I could do a whole display of them on like a side table or something! https://flamingotoes.com/spooky-crystal-ball-halloween-candlesticks/ For anyone wanting the tutorial!

Why do the "good" neighbors always move away & the crappy neighbors never leave? The people across the street are kind of horrible people but not really bad neighbors like yours. They're just kinda angry & the kind of people that won't even wave when they drive past you. We've watched their roof shingles blow off in storms, seen a very large black snake on their roof crawl into their attic vents, & when they had about a dozen chickens my aunt (who is their next door neighbor) watched a hawk...

I a sooooo not an expert, but it might be a standard wiper motor attached to a more bendy wire/arm to the upper body on a long throw, set to a faster rpm. I've done a rocking chair using a wiper motor and attaching it with a wire coathanger wire (cut it and then wrapped it around a screw) and I could see some "bounce" in the movement from the wire being more flexible, and could definitely see a faster RPM causing it to flail a bit more... At least this may serve as a bump to get the...

Oh Spookywolf he's darling - where is he from? Looking over the this years line-up, I'm partial to the Library, and also like the clock. Can't wait to see them in person yeah seems like Micheal's tends to put them out after back-to-school, as does Menard's if you have one of those near you exlibrisnyx.

I think any of the Gemmy projector lights could do a decent job of it, really, depending on what you're going for, how far from the window the tree is, whether the tree normally drops it's leaves prior to halloween or not, etc. Depending on your definition of budget, maybe the Chauvet mini laser?

I don't know how you people deal with tornadoes. We have one maybe every decade or three in the whole state. And while I was driving when the last one hit, right where it hit, and it was only a little F1, it did some fairly impressive damage. Stay safe. We had a freak windstorm this morning, tore a tree down in my neighbor's yard, but my place was still fine when I left for work.

I have zero mechanical ability, but I LOVE the idea. I think any subtle/creatively creepy and historical props are just fabulous! I do think I've seen someone here make one of these before and it was really nifty... https://www.halloweenforum.com/general-halloween/116608-where-term-saved-bell-really-comes.html Found the reference! Freddie is already in there with Queen when they were inducted in 2001 so I think he could wait. His solo stuff was good but he only put out one real solo album, Mr. Bad Guy, & then his only other album outside of Queen was with Montserrat Caballe so technically he wasn't solo on that one. I've been a Queen for years now, even saw them live with Freddie in 1983, & even I don't see why he needs to go in solo when there's plenty of others that should be there instead. I'd love to see Boston,...

Being far from the east coast, I've never seen similar, but can narrow down the possibilities significantly. It's clearly Hemiptera order, so related to stink bugs and the like. How certain are you it was eating on the sunflowers? Given the rather significant camo on this guy, I'd almost suggest a species of ambush bug. Potentially feeding on aphids or something similar. Do you have oak trees near by any chance?
