Thanks for all of the positive comments! I appreciate all of them. chubstuff - yes, you said a mouthful. Although I have come up with many original props over the years, most of the animated props I've built were originally conceived by another haunter. It wasn't until 2002 when I was first on the internet that I realized "Hey, I could actually build my own Halloween props". And if I built if myself, I know exactly how to repair it if it breaks. We all inspire each other and I've never...

Looks kind of like the swaying zombie prop mechanism. One of our own forum members, Diabolik, runs Spider Hill Props, and he sells a mechanism that might work for you. Or you can build your own. http://www.spiderhillpropworks.com/Animated-Swaying-Zombie-Complete-Kit_p_24.html

I haven't seen them in a while, but if you could attach a vibrating motor to the "pole" holding the bell, when triggered it would shake the bell violently enough to ring like crazy. That would also free you from having to use string. You can make your own vibrating motor by attaching a half circle of wood/metal to the shaft of a fast motor. Probably at least 50 to 60 RPM. Even this one might do:...

Great looking prop! I need to totally re-do my cauldron creep. Looking at your video, I think you would get more arm movement/motion if your stirring stick was straight instead of being curved. But, maybe you designed it that way. As far as the spine, I wonder if you could make or extend the current spine, to the hip, with something flexible, like a piece of rubber or plastic of some sort. Then paint it to match the spine color. It would move with your motor and still give the illusion of a...

I remember seeing this craft project a few years ago and thinking it was really cool looking. Yours turned out so lovely! I'd want to make several more so I could do a whole display of them on like a side table or something! https://flamingotoes.com/spooky-crystal-ball-halloween-candlesticks/ For anyone wanting the tutorial!

I a sooooo not an expert, but it might be a standard wiper motor attached to a more bendy wire/arm to the upper body on a long throw, set to a faster rpm. I've done a rocking chair using a wiper motor and attaching it with a wire coathanger wire (cut it and then wrapped it around a screw) and I could see some "bounce" in the movement from the wire being more flexible, and could definitely see a faster RPM causing it to flail a bit more... At least this may serve as a bump to get the...

I have zero mechanical ability, but I LOVE the idea. I think any subtle/creatively creepy and historical props are just fabulous! I do think I've seen someone here make one of these before and it was really nifty... https://www.halloweenforum.com/general-halloween/116608-where-term-saved-bell-really-comes.html Found the reference! Mr. Grimsley started a thread on it back in 2008-09! https://www.halloweenforum.com/halloween-props/72377-new-prop-effect-idea-dead-ringer.html The tech...

Yes, I have one neighbor who does sort of big-ish, but nothing compared to what we do. Wish they all would go big.

Not necessarily as big as my yard display, but I've noticed that over 15 years I've inspired neighbors to decorate. (which is wonderful) The more the better in my opinion.

I use black braided fishing line. It's extremely thin, extremely strong, yet pretty much completely dispersal in front of a black background. My lights don't even reflect off of it.

I love the movement - the jaw and the head turning is really great! I didn't notice the actual coffin creeping open until a second view tho! :D Great looking setup - would love to see it with your other skelly like you're planning and all lit up.

VIDEO: https://youtu.be/fTJSfBQC-WI This a project I actually completed for Halloween 2017, but have been lax in finding the time to take some decent pics and shoot a video of it in action. I always loved the Grave-Digging Skeleton, but always wondered if I could re-engineer it in a new way and with a different motor. I figured that since the arms of the skeleton are already attached to the handle of the shovel, why not figure out some way to actually make the arms move the shovel back...

If you are wanting to float the candelabra like an FCG, it will work, just I would recommend using a very slow motor (3 or 4 RPM) for a subtle floating movement. And the crank for your motor will be very short, since the candelabra is not that wide. I would just experiment by mounting your motor and pulleys on the bottom of a flat board. Then try a short crank length and use that as a reference to judge what changes you need from there. In my mind, your idea would look pretty cool. Kind of...

That is really disappointing to hear. They had the ability to reach out to you and make things right ,and instead they remove the post completely. Have you contacted them directly over the issue with the mask and also asked about why your review on their site was removed? I would be interested to see what they say for both inquiries. I am going to move this thread into our "reviews" section, but I do hope others post if they have experience with this company - good or bad - is always...

How was your big night? We had a reprieve from the rain on both Friday and Saturday but it promptly started back (with a vengeance) on Sunday. We're finally starting to dry out enough that I can finish packing up outside.

Ya, I think SC is getting the worst of it. We live on Piney mountain but most everyone else isn't fairing as well.
