"What I would really like to do is try my hand at some tombstone building"
Canadian Tire and Home Hardware both carry Drylok, if you are going to use Terra's tutorial as a guideline. I gallon gets me about 7-8 decent sized stones. I've got a few pictures in my album to give you an idea.
Boo, thanks for the friend request and nice comments! I made my first tombstones many years ago and they were very basic. I tried to make more realistic ones last year. We have a home store called Home Depot where I can get large sheets of foam that works great, not sure if you have them in Canada. Anyway, I decide on something I want, print the lettering then use it as a guide. I bought a wood burning tool that works great for carving letters in the foam and also "cracks". I brush on some acetone that eats the foam to make it look weathered. I cover them in one coat of monster mud, then one coat of exterior latex flat paint. I would be happy to share more info. I am not as good as many of the folks here but getting better! Thanks again for the friend request!!
