A lot of the shops were a very interesting mix of kitschy (Dracula coffee mugs or refrigerator magnets) and gorgeous, intricately hand-made traditional crafts.
The young woman in the picture was our guide. That was the only time that I've traveled with a guide and driver, but I think it was a good idea for Romania, especially with it being just one of our daughters and me. I said what things and types of things I wanted to see, and they worked out an efficient itinerary. It made it more educational, and it was fun to hear personal anecdotes and get local perspective. (It didn't hurt that they were flexible and had great senses of humor.)
But they seemed reluctant to take us touring graveyards, so those we saw on our own.
