Default Does this story sound familiar to anyone?

Hey guys I need some help. When I was younger I remember a scary story some people would tell. I only remember parts of it but I think its the important parts I remember.

It goes like this... I think a person i sin bed and he hears something say I am in your house. The next night it sys I am on your first stair... the next night it says I am on your second stair.. It goes on and on until it says I am in your bedroom, I am next to your bed. Then the person would say BOO!

Can someone please tell me if they remember hearing this or know anything about it? Thanks.

i know one that is similar to this one. I used to tell it to alot of people. It went like this:
There was a husband and a wife. Little did the husband know that the wife hated him. They always got into arguements over nothing so the wife had it. One day while her husband was working in the garage, the wife decided to kill him. SHe cut her husband into the smallest of pieces, drove 100 miles away and burried her husband there. Finally she got home exhausted from the drive. Finally the wife got to relax on the couch when a she gets a phone call. The wife picks up and she hears "i'm 100 miles away from your house and im coming to get you." The wife ignores the call thinking it was a prank. She once again relaxes when she gets another phone call "im 50 miles way from your house and im coing to get you." The wife once again ignored the call and started her relaxation again. 30 min later she gets another phone call "im 10 miles away from your house and im coming to get you." This is when the wife became frightened. She picked up the phone and was about to call the police but then she thought about the police finding out what she had done to her husband. Once again the phone rings "Im at your house and im coming to get you." The wife became very scared. She grabbed a knife and head up stairs to her bathroom where she was going to hide. When the wife opens the door she screams at the top of her lungs because of what she sees. She sees her cut up husband. The Husband says "dont be scared, i was just wondering if you had a ban aid."

lol. Thats how i remeber the story. I remember teling the story to my whole 5th grade class at camp when we were telling stories. Y9ou can change the story to whatever you want. Like how many miles she drove away and what the husband said on the phone. Its all up to you. lol.

The teachers would tell this around Halloween when I was a kid in grade school. I haven't thought of it in YEARS. Wow.
They would drag it out so slowly and we'd fall for it every time - and every year.

I tried a couple searches and found nothing on it.

Sorry.

It sounds very familiar I have a book at home with a story like this, when I get home I'll look to see if I can find it and post it here. It doesn't sound like Jon's version.

BigBadWolf I hope this is it, I'll reference it at the end:

"The Voice"
Ellen had just fallen asleep when she heard a strange voice.
"Ellen," it whispered, "I am coming up the stairs."
"I am on the first step."
"Now I am on the second step"

Ellen got scared and called her parents, but they didn't hear her, and they didn't come.
Then the voice whispered, "Ellen, I'm on the top step."
"Now I'm in the hall."
"Now I'm outside your room."

Then it whispered, "I'm standing right next to your bed."And then,
"I'VE GOT YOU!"
Ellen screamed, and the voice stopped. Her father rushed into the room and turned on the light.
"Somebody is in here!" Ellen said. They looked and looked. Nobody was there.

I got this from [u]More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Retold by Alvin Schwartz.
This was one of my favorite books as a kid

My sister would tell us this story when we were small :
It started from outside on the front porch and ended up in your bedroom with a scream at the end.
Bloody Bones is on the first step.
Bloody Bones is on the second step.
Bloody Bones is on the third step.
You run to your bedroom.
Bloody Bones is on the porch.
Bloody Bones is opening the door.
You close the bedrom door as if it did not hear you.
Bloody Bones on the first step.
Bloody Bones is on the second step.
Bloody Bones is on the third step.
You jump onto your bed.
Bloody Bones is on the sixth step.
Bloody Bones is on the seventh step.
Bloody bones is on the eighth step.
You pull the covers over your head.
Bloody Bones is on the top step.
Bloody Bones is at the door.
CREEEEEEEEEEEECK !!!!!!!!! (door opening slowly)
Bloody bones is ..................

RIGHT BEHIND YOU!!!!!!!!!!! (Screams) []

I remember these stories. The "I'm on the first step" story was told to me when I was a kid but with a hispanic twist. The creature in the story was looking for innards to eat. Another one I've heard is a funny one that asks for a band aid at the end called "Bloody Fingers" that involves a phone call. The caller says "Bloody fingers, 10 blocks away." then hangs up. It goes on this way counting down until there is a knock at the door. The victim answers the door and there stands someone with bloody fingers asking, "May I have a band aid?" I've also heard of another but, I'm unsure where. This one is dragged out and told in a very quiet voice that gets quieter as the story goes on. It goes something like this.

In the dark, dark woods there is a dark, dark house. In the dark, dark house there is a dark, dark room. In the dark, dark room there is a dark, dark closet. (voice gets quieter) In the dark, dark closet there is a dark, dark box. (whispery voice) In the dark, dark box is a MONSTER! (reach and grab adding crazy laugh here) buahaha!

I once made up a story to tell some kids when I was a teen. I don't know if it's scary or just a little creepy but I like to tell it. I've never really given it a title but I guess I can call it the "Boy In the Closet". Pretty obvious what the story is now, huh?
Well, here it goes.

There's a house in town that no one wants to live in anymore. It's known to be haunted or something, but that's just a story. I was told that a boy had died there just a few days after he and his family moved in. Nobody knows why he died but since then the house has been empty. They say that on the first night he went to bed, he turned off the light and his mother said goodnight and closed the door. He settled in and closed his eyes. From the closet he heard a quiet voice. At first he thought it was his parents talking in the next room but then it became very clear. He turned over and listened. He heard it again. "Help me, I'm in the closet. Let me out." He called for his parents and told them that someone was in the closet but of course, when they checked, there wasn't anyone there. They told him that maybe he was just hearing noises from the house and that he would get used to it soon. The next night it happened again. The quiet voice became louder, "Help me, I'm in the closet. Let me out." The boy tried to ignore it. He covered his head with the blanket but the voice got even louder. "Help me, I'm in the closet. Let me out." Again he called his parents and again they told him to ignore it and go to sleep. The boy hid under the blanket and soon fell asleep. On the third night he checked the closet before going to bed and told himself that he was just imagining things. So, he left the closet door open and got into bed and turned off the light. His mother said goodnight and closed the bedroom door. Laying there in the dark room, he waited to hear the voice again. He got very sleepy and closed his eyes. "Help me, I'm in the closet. Let me out." The voice was very loud now and the boy was very scared. He was so scared he couldn't call out for his parents. He slowly looked over at the closet and the door was closed. The next morning he didn't show for breakfast so his parents looked for him in the bathroom and in his bedroom. He wasn't there. They looked outside and in the basement but still couldn't find him. Then they thought of the closet. They opened the door to the closet and there he was sitting in the corner with his arms wrapped around his knees. His eyes were wide open with fright and his face was white. I guess there really was someone in the closet. But that's just a story.

Well, that's it. I hope ya'll enjoyed it. Now, remember, I was a young teen when I told this story to the younger kids in the neighborhood so...[8)]
